I'd really like to put DD in our infant carrier. I have the evenflo snugli. Every carrier I have tried her in (Baby Bjorn, ergo, etc.) Cuts off her leg circulation. What am I doing wrong? Any tips from experienced baby wearers?
Where on her leg is the ergo cutting off the circulation?

I'll try to take a pic tonight. Basically her left leg starts turning red, then purple, and then we pull her out immediately because we get nervous.
That's strange that it's doing this. It has to be as @botanicalbliss said. I have a babybjorn and a connecta (love the connecta) and I've never noticed any reddening even.
If there isn't an issue with either the position or it's adjustment I'm wondering if you'd be better off trying a wrap made of nice stretchy fabric.
Are you trying to carry forward facing or facing you? I feel like in the Bjorn (which is what I use) forward facing might having a higher probability of cutting off circulation, but facing you would be better.
Edit to include: are you still buckling the newborn leg straps? Apologies if this is too "duh," but on the Bjorn (which is the only one I have experience with) there are little strap/hook things near the leg opening that you only use for under 8 lbs. Just a thought.
Don't use the extra leg strap and you should be good in the bjorn. It's like a button and a strap in the middle of the leg holes. Also how do people feel about the ergo. Has anyone used it on their back? LO is 15 lbs and the bjorn is starting to hurt my back. Thought about getting an ergo so she can e more like a backpack.
I'm using the Snugli which was the most comfortable for me of all the choices I tried. I have big boobs which made Bjorn uncomfortable. I have tried facing in and out, and both produce the same circulation issues.I usually put her in while I'm standing, and I read somewhere to put her in while sitting down? That doesn't seem like it would make a difference but it's worth a try. I'm going to a football game this weekend that doesn't allow strollers so I'm hoping to get this figured out.

Not duh for me. I actually did that the first time when he was 2 months old. I figured it out quickly but felt really bad about it.
I use a K'Tan but the bigger she gets, the more it seems to sag and the fabric doesn't seem to stay as tight. She's about 17.5 lbs now. I don't know if that's just how it is or if I'm somehow doing it wrong. I also have a Bjorn that I haven't used since she was teeny, but I was going to say the same thing PPs have said about the leg straps.
2. @laxminavkar I LOVE my ergo, and so does she (she's almost 16 lbs). We just walked 3 miles in it (and have done up to 6). My back doesn't hurt after, and I have previous back problems. She still sits in the front though because she's just 4.5 months.
3. I love my Moby wrap but only for things around the house or, like, groceries, but anything longer/more active(or standing and sitting, like at a football game) means I am constantly readjusting/pulling/tying.
@laxminavkar I love the ergo but I think baby needs to be older before wearing him/her on your back.

I have the k'tan breeze, and I feel like I can't breathe in it. They assured me that I have the right size, and the next size up wouldn't be a safe fit.
I also have a Moby and an Ergo. I like the Ergo best. But I'm hoping to buy a used woven wrap soon.
On Friday I'm going to a local baby wearing group. You can bring what you have and they help you figure out the best hold and fit. They also have a lending library you can join for a fee and deposit. Is there something like that in your area? I found them on FB.
I just got home and she's already asleep so I'll take some pics tomorrow. I found a used moby for $20 that I feel will solve the problem but I'd love to be able to use the one I have.
I have an Ergo and S is still kinda small for it without the infant insert so we haven't used it much. When we went to the zoo last weekend we put her in the balboa sling that we have and she loved being able to face outwards and see things. That might be too small for most of the wee ones on this board though.
We're actually getting a Beco Gemini Carrier off craigslist tomorrow so we can have her forward facing in something other than the sling. From everything I've read, that's one of the better carriers and from all the reviews, it beats the bjorn hands down, especially for babies bigger than 15 lbs. It's a 4-in-1 carrier that has a higher back that can be flipped up or down if extra head support is needed. I'm super excited about trying it out at the pumpkin patch this weekend!
Have you tried rotating her hips up and in towards you, making sure she's "sitting" on her butt rather than dangling from her crotch? Does that make sense?
I have a Moby, a K'tan, an Ergo and a Beco Gemini and I've never noticed the circulation thing in any of them... But I think these are all better than the Snugli or Bjorn at providing a "seat" for the baby.
I have a moby and use the "hug hold" most of the time, I make sure she's seated deeply with her knees up at or above her hip level. I don't have the others so I don't have advice on those. Hth!

We were out late tonight, so I'm just wrapping up my last pump of the day at 1:30 am, and the whole "dangling from her crotch" bit has me shaking with laughter. I totally have the late-night giggles. I can't stop re-reading it and cracking up.
I have an Infantino Mei Tei and I love it. It was on clearance at Target for $24 but rang up for $10! I also have a K'Tan Breeze but I don't feel like he fits in it very well.
Sorry in advance for my messy bathroom. I took these this morning. The hip rotation seems to have helped. I kept her in it for 25 minutes this morning while I did chores and no problems. In the past, it has happened in less than 10.
I'm wondering if I should get the Moby as a back up? Someone has offered to sell me there's for $20. Good price? And at 5 and a half months, is it too late for her to get used to it?
In regards to the Moby, DS never liked it until recently, so I don't think that it would be too late to start with it. He's almost 23 lbs so I don't wear him in it as long as I can in the Ergo, but then again I'm not even that used to it yet.

I did the same thing. I couldn't figure out how come they were so hard to fasten and then H got the book out and told me it was for newborns. Oops!
I don't know about the Bjorn but with the Ergo, the legs go out to the side rather than down like your dd's are in that carrier.
This is what I meant by my post above about dangling by the crotch. Personally OP, I would ditch the Bjorn or Snugli if you're going to be wearing LO a lot as these carriers are known for being bad for babies' hips. Their legs should be frogged with knees higher than their butt. The Moby is a good one and $20 for a gently used one isn't bad. Certainly cheaper than a new Ergo.

I agree. The pics do make it look like the pressure is not on her butt (thus dangling by the crotch) as if she were sitting, so their blood does get cut off and their legs fall asleep. This happens even more when they are facing forward (which is why a baby can't face forward in the Ergo or similarly made carriers).
I would go for the used Moby, especially if you want to use it around the house most often.
I agree with the pp's about positioning. The legs should be supported up to the knees. Baby's bottom should sit a little lower and fabric should cover up under the thighs to knees.
I found the moby cumbersome as he got bigger and older. I ended up purchasing a boba 3G new off eBay for way less that retail. I really like it. I wear baby for a large portion every day. My back doesn't hurt and I can easily nurse in it. You can also back carry in the boba. It goes up to 40 # I think. HTH.
Thanks ladies. I used the carrier for our football team's homecoming game today, just to get her in and out of the stadium. I was able to scoot her back a little into a sitting position, but I definitely think it's a problem of the "crotch dangler." I passed on the moby because the fabric ended up being very hot and I live in Florida. I'm going to look into Beco or Ergo.
Ergo is still pretty hot, though definitely not as hot as the Moby. What about a Mei Tai? I think they are a little thinner.
I second on the mei tai. I have that infentino one that I always leave in the car and it's great for like the grocery store. Also, what about a ring sling. I absolutely love it. He'll snoozing it in but now that he's bigger I can tie him on my hip with it.
