Tug of war with my nips

Please tell me I am not the only one who has a child who while nursing, plays tug of war with my nipples. It's beyond frustrating. It got to the point tonight where I had to lay her down and go get a bottle bc I couldn't handle it anymore. I know it's not because she isn't getting milk bc she is making a mess every time she tugs. Anyone else have this issue? Help!!

Yes, he pulls off every few gulps to look around. I think he's afraid he's going to miss something. I just put up the boob and give him a break, then try again in a little bit.

DS does this. Usually I just stop him and sit him up and play for a bit (since he's usually bored when he does it) then after a few mins I pop him back on and he's usually better.

Yep same issue here. I think there was another post about it a few days ago. My lactation consultant says to use words with them like "be gentle", "that hurts mommy". And take the boob away if baby keeps doing it. I've also heard smoosh baby into boob gently if baby does it. So far these techniques aren't helping a whole lot yet but I'm hoping the language starts to catch on.

What is helping is nursing while side lying, and working out gas. Also while nip, using a cover. Isaac's grabby hands are starting to pull the cover off though.

Yes!!! I was thinking about posting about this tonight too! Every feeding is like a wrestling match. She's all over the place and almost seems angry, then when she finally chills out she's asleep 1 minute later. There is no in between! I wonder if she's even getting anything since she's off and on so much. Sigh. Hoping this phase is over soon.

Yup. Same here! He pulls of to look around, then latches and sucks only to pull off again. At first I thought he needed to be burped, but sometimes he lets out a nice big burp and still does it.

Yes, there are definitely times that Finn will latch, suck a few times, then pull off and repeat. I assume it's bc he's not really interested on eating, so I take him off for awhile.

LO loves to push my boob away with her hands while frantically searching for it with her mouth. Hey crazy! Don't push it away and it would be right there!
