edited October 2013 in November 2013 Moms
Just made some home made soft pretzels from scratch for the first time! They are prefect for today since its so cold out and these are hot from the oven. Now im gunna enjoy them with some yellow mustard and a cup of hot cocoa. What deliciousness are you enjoying?

Re: mmmm yum

  • Oooh, I'm jealous.  They look yummy.  I pass on mustard though, extra salt all the way.  Mmm.

  • We have brunch every Sunday after church, but my oven has been broken for 2 weeks--so there's been no yummy baked goods with brunch--until today--homemade cinnamon rolls were back on the table!  So good!

  • Those pretzels look awesome. We had a Halloween party last night and I made close to 75 brownies. Most didn't get eaten, so I'm sitting here making sure they don't go to waste. I need to step away!!!

YUM!!  I made snickerdoodles last night and there's leftover doughballs in the freezer for another couple nights of fresh cookies.  And I MAY have bought 2 containers of ice cream at the grocery store today.  DH said I'm not allowed to go grocery shopping on my own anymore.  :D
I ran out of ice cream and I am suffering! I must make a grocery run tomorrow.  DH doesn't usually eat the ice cream but apparently he likes magic shell just as much as I do so 2 cartons disappeared fast. =(
  • I just made pumpkin seeds. Well, pumpkin seeds with sugar and such. Yum!

  • christinacox2384 I got the recipe from mspimama.com website in the recipe index section. Here's the recipe:
    Soft Pretzels:
    1 1/2 cup warm water
1 tbsp. or pkg. of yeast
    1 tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    4 cups flour
    1 egg
    1 tbsp. water
    kosher salt

Add sugar to warm water then sprinkle yeast on top. Let float for a minute then stir to dissolve the yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes as yeast activates and starts to foam. Add salt and flour and knead 5-10 minutes (in a mixer on low or by hand) adding more flour as needed to reduce stickiness.Coat counter top and hands lightly with flour. Place dough on flour. Divide dough into 12 pieces and roll each piece into a long rope or "snake." Twist into pretzel shape and place on a nonstick baking sheet. (I recommend using a Silpat or parchment paper.)Make an egg wash with the egg and water, lightly beaten together. Brush pretzels with egg wash then sprinkle liberally with Kosher salt. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.Tip: Be sure to liberally coat all exposed areas of the pretzels with the egg wash. It's what gives the pretzels their wonderful color.
  • I wish I had yeast in my house right now!!! I guess I'll have to settle for some ice cream instead
  • Those pretzels look AMAZING. I made chocolate espresso pumpkin bread today...soooo yummy!
  • Those pretzels look divine! I may have to get out of bed so I can make a batch.
  • OMG. I need one of these in my life!
  • I made pineapple upside cake on Saturday. Think I may go get a piece now...

  • Two things I love----pretzels with mustard and hot chocolate!  Although I must admit, I've never had them together.........Mmmm....I love making homemade pretzels!   They're a bit of effort but totally worth it in the end....I think today I need to make something with chocolate....Mmmmm...
