mattress pad recommendations

I was wondering what mattress pads you ladies have used for your cribs. I think the mattress we have needs a quilted covering of some sort so it helps to keep my LO warmer at night. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Re: mattress pad recommendations

  • Walmart sells one that I love. I think the brand is Sealy. It's made in the U.S. and is fluffy and warm. We received a BRU one as a gift, and the one from Walmart is much higher in quality.

  • I'm getting a heating pad for my daughter. I had a friend who used one for hers last year at this time. Thu are so used to being held in a warm environment. I will just keep it at the lowest setting and monitor her reaction. We were warming blankets in the dryer to lay her on, but that only lasted so long.

I'm sorry, but this sounds really unsafe.

Why can't you just dress her in layers and swaddle her? And control the temp of the room?

I would not risk a fire hazard and possibly overheating/burning your DD.

She gets out of her swaddle- no matter what we have her in (blanket, swaddle items that Velcro/zip). We do control the heat in our room as much as we can, but it can be cold in the room even with the heat on. We live in a very old farm house on the top of a hill and when it's windy and cold outside, our room is the coldest. I don't think the heating pad would be any different than the warming beds at the hospital. She's not going to be laying directly on the heating pad. Clearly, if it's too hot, I won't lay her on it. Her crib is in our room about 2 feet from our bed and we will be able to closely monitor it. I find it more safe than bed sharing.

So get a fleece sleep sack, hat and mittens.
