So, trick-or-treating? Yay or Nay?

As much as I want to take Robert trick-or-treating, I'm not sure it will be worth it this year. I will be doing all the work, and he will just cry when I make him take the candy out of his hands and mouth and put it in his bag at every house.

Re: So, trick-or-treating? Yay or Nay?

  • Yes, but only because we always have our friends over and the "big" kids will be going out... we're a matching group of eight!

  • We are taking our 3yr old and my nephews are going too. I doubt she'll get much candy, but she'll have fun being with the big kids.

  • We're only going because it's a thing on the campus where we live (and I'm organizing it).  NYC kids don't really "trick or treat" the way they do in the 'burbs; not all neighborhoods have door-to-door options.  Some big buildings do it for the residents inside, and some business districts offer it.  I think that kind of stinks, to be honest, lol.

  • I like candy so we go. We went last year.

  • We will go to a couple houses and then she will just help
    Us pass out candy.

  • We're taking her out but I plan on driving her around in her little car and she can look at everyone and have a grand old time that way. I shan't be ringing any doorbells unless I hear they're passing out full size martinis. Otherwise, I think its kind of worse than those trick-or-treaters who are way too old to be doing it but go anyway. Using a baby for candy, tisk tisk!

I plan on dressing him up and he'll 'help' us pass out candy. If the weather is warm enough then we will sit outside to pass out candy. But we're not actually going to trick or treat this year.

    I like this idea!

This is what we did with Benjamin at this age, and it was a huge hit. Em will be trick or treating though because I'm taking Ben, and DH will be out of town for work (again) so I'll have to have both kids with me.

  • We will dress him up and take him to a couple neighbors' houses. The we'll pass out candy for a little bit - TorTing goes on past his bedtime.

On a side note: A woman asked about this & her 7m-old on a FB page to which I belong. Most told her to go for it. A couple said they wouldn't appreciate a woman asking for candy for her infant since it's obviously just for her, and there are other kids in the neighborhood who could have that candy. Original woman then went off on this one who had disagreed- calling her a selfish bitch and saying she was denying a baby candy. Original woman also has a public FB page and went off there about the f'ing bitch this and selfish bitch that.

People are awesome. And I would also find it weird if only a mom and her infant went out for an hour.

  • Olivia may go to one or two houses but she'll mostly just hang with Mom and help pass out candy.

  • We're not sure yet what we're going to do. I've signed Ava up for a Halloween party that afternoon at Gymboree so that may be enough. We did talk briefly last night about maybe taking her over to my inlaws so they can see her in her costume (and MIL is on bedrest right now so I know it would make her day to see Ava). We could then take her to a few houses on their street as it's all townhomes close together. I'm not letting her have candy so I know I'll end up eating it all and I really don't need to eat a lot of candy.... so maybe no trick or treating, lol.

And sadly we get zero trick or treaters at our house so having her help give out candy is not an option.
