severe pelvic pressure, anyone?

I had contractions off and on through the night, and woke with severe pelvic pressure...as if someone kicked me in the crotch with a steel toe boot (ouch!) Not sure if dilating further or DD dropped (2cm, 70% effaced, -3 Station)

I don't want another trip to L&D, but at this point the go-to phrase at this point DH and I know is "go to L&D."

I can't walk at this point because walking causes more pain.
UGH, I am just so tired at this point emotionally....

Re: severe pelvic pressure, anyone?

  • Oh yea...it's pretty common. Just your babes pushing on your pelvic bones getting ready for labor. My doc recommends taking a soothing bath to see if it helps.

  • I'm nervous that I won't know when it's actually time to go in either :( I have always heard that if you're contracting and can no longer walk around you should go in though... probably a good idea to call the OB.
  • Believe me, you will most definatley know when it's really time to go to l&d.  With DS1 I never really had painful contractions till I was much closer to pushing time but I could tell a HUGE difference in the BH contractions and real labor contractions.  I almost can't describe how they really felt, but you will know.  Also my main indication it was time to go was that they were perfectly timeable and I could walk, bounce, move in different ways to "help" but unlike with BH where you can do those things and they pretty much go away, real ones do not, things like that just "help" deal with them.

I have the same pain and have had it for the past week -ish.  I have been to L&D twice since then for other reasons (bp and nst) but they still say I am only 2 cm dilated and it's just him engaging in the pelvic area.  It hurts so bad sometimes it brings tears to my eyes.  They said the only way for it to go away is to have LO.   It only doesn't hurt if I am sitting up.  Laying down hurts and moving hurts.  I had a sit down hot shower that helped yesterday!

However, if you cannot walk through it, I would give the OB a call just to make sure, They may want you to go in.
