Blended Families

What are you up to this weekend?

DS is with BD today, so DH & I are cleaning. We're hoping to find a misplaced set of car keys... :/ If we're successful in that we'll do dinner & a movie tonight and my parents will watch DD. Tomorrow our church is having their fall festival (pie contests, cornhole, bounce castles & obstacles, trunk or treat, costume contest, food, games, etc.) and DH is manning the grill for a couple hours.
What about you, what are your weekend plans?

Re: What are you up to this weekend?

  • I lose my keys all the time. Lol

So far I don't have any plans exactly. Today, I've been cleaning like a mad woman. Bathing dogs, dusting, mopping, etc. Tomorrow... church, grocery shopping, freezer/crockpot meal cooking, and then working in Statistics homework. I missed last week's class because DH wasn't home in time to watch the kids, so now I am having to teach myself everything from last week. It sucks majorly.
  • Spooky movie night at DS's school Fri night. It was a lot of fun and a successful fundraiser for the school. The food trucks and pop corn machines were busy selling yummy movie food all night, so Im hoping we beat our sales goal.

Halloween Parents' Night Out with a potluck at DS's karate Sat night. Since its a parents night out, DS is staying at karate for a few hours in the evening, so there is a chance I might finally see Thor in Rush.

    Sunday: football.

  • We're driving home from Disney World today and vacation detoxing tomorrow.
    my read shelf:
Erin's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)
  • Not much. Dh works Saturdays, and I have to work Sunday. That's fine though since all dh wants to do on Sundays is watch football!

Plus tomorrow my mom is taking my girls to the pumpkin patch, then out for lunch and some shopping. When they get back I'll have to drive dd1 back to college (an hour away) so that shoots my whole day.

We're both off on Monday, so maybe we'll do something then. We like to do movies and lunch on Mondays because most places are pretty deserted those days.

  • Ran errands and lazed around just the 2 of us (me and DS), I loved it.  SO and "SS" came over for dinner tonight.  They left, and now I'm getting some work done.

Tomorrow: church, pumpkin carving w/ SO and SS, and then I'm attending a jewelry party hosted by one of DS's friend's moms.  Her DH is going to take their DD out during the party, and they offered to let DS itag along with them.  So I didn't even have to get a babysitter.  I don't wear jewelry, but the idea of 2 hours with a bunch of women and some wine, while DS is having a fun time with his friend, sounds too good to pass up.  Dinner, probably more work at night, and the work week begins again.
If being a math nerd is wrong, I don't wanna be right!
  • Had a relaxing Friday night just hanging around the house. Went to a Halloween party with DS this morning. Tonight (Saturday), DH went to see a MMA fight and I went out with my girlfriends while MIL watched DS. I won $700 at the casino. Woohoo. Therefore, I will be shopping tomorrow!

  • It is half way through, but here goes

Yesterday, was a mostly around the house day.  I vacuumed 2x and then steam cleaned my carpets 2x.  The first time with the carpet cleaner & water and the 2nd time with vinegar & water. I was looking at steam cleaning again today or tomorrow (given the water was still nasty brown on the second go around) but then one of the dogs peed a huge bladder full of urine in an obvious place, so even with the spray pet cleaner stuff, I can smell it.  Thanks Penny.

Today is Church, Commissary to buy dinner for the upcoming week and then devastate my child.

We have a mom and her two children (Girl 11 and Boy 8) who have been living with their grandparents for the last 2 years.  Mom (Wendy) was in an accident and moved in while she was undergoing PT for her leg and then could not find a job (shitting you not, she ran the YMCA's after school program before her surgery) for the longest time.

Anywho, W could only work as an Asst Manager at our Tom Thumb.  The hours suck and pay is worse.  Her parents are not..."healthy" enough to raise kids again.  Her father IS really sick and her mother is really strict.  So they ended up coming to my house every afternoon after school.

Monkey loves them, I love them and they love us.

W finally found a GS job in Mississippi.  It pays ok, but has full on benefits for them all.  W moves over there tomorrow.  Kids follow at Thanksgiving.  W is telling Reagan (I happily threw Wendy under that bus) this afternoon.  I will pick up the pieces, but I do not want to be the one to give the bad news.

Yeah....and then after she heads out, I am going to take all of them out for SOMETHING.

My baby is going to sob.....
