Disney at 1.5 yrs?

Hi all - we're looking WAY ahead to next year. We want to go to Disney (with grandparents) next fall. Thoughts/experiences on Disney with a 1.5 year old? Edited to add - this wouldn't be a trip just "for" LO. My DH and I are big fans and live in reasonable driving distance, so it's more of a family vacation. We haven't been in a while and have been wanting to go. It had been our plan to go for our 5 year anniversary this year but then LO came so we postponed. :)

  • I don't have any experience with it yet, but we are planning to take DS to Disney World shortly after his first birthday. We haven't been in five years which is entirely too long for us. I can't wait!

  • If it's more of a family vacation like you say then go for it. I think your LO will really enjoy it.

I still haven't been (cue violins) but my H has when he was in the Royal Navy.
I can't wait to take our LO to the one in the US. The Paris one just seems pointless to me.

  • We live 2 hours from disney so we have gone 4x with my first LO. She went at 10mo, 12mo, 15mo and 22 mo. She loved it every time. We just went last week and brought my 5 month old and he was fine, so your 1.5 year old will enjoy it. So I say go for it. It will be fun!

  • We will be taking our LO next year at 1.5 years too. I don't have any personal experience, but from what I have read from others, it will be fine as long as you realize you might not be able to tour like you normally do. We plan on going for a few hours in the morning until it gets too crowded or he gets too cranky. Then we will go back to the hotel for a nap and maybe hang out by the pool area. Then we will go back for a couple hours that evening as long as LO feels up to it.

Not at all, I hear great reviews. It's just as a child it was always a dream to go to Disneyland in America.

  • I've never been either :( My parents took me all over europe as a child but never within the U.S lol. I plan on taking LO around her 2nd birthday! Go ! have a great time!

  • We have annual passes and we would go with our 1.5 yr old and she loves it!!! She watched Disney jr channel and loved Mickey Mouse clubhouse! If it is the Florida Disney I would suggest a stop at Hollywood studios disney junior for your LO.
  • We're taking S there in Jan and she'll only be 8 months? We're going so we can run the tinkerbell race, so it's not all fun and games (well kinda), and even though we don't think S will have full comprehension of what's going on, she loves watching people so I'm sure she'll have fun.

  • If it was for LO I'd say no. But if it's for your fun I say go for it. Just be prepared to leave early each day and have some cranky kid meltdowns from being tired

  • I've been six times as a kid and teenager and loved it. I can't wait to take DD, we are waiting when she is like 2 or 3 though.

  • I grew up in Florida and my family went to Disney 1-2 times a year but now that we are in Michigan I've only been once in the past 12 years. We were thinking about going to visit my DHs grandma during our Christmas vacation and it's not too far from Orlando so we may go for a couple days. L will be just shy of 8 months.

  • I will bring you guys a little bit of Disney....image
  • We live 20min away from Disneyland and have taken Abbie there (she's 5mo) twice with older cousins and my 1yr old nephew. I'm glad we went just to see her face at all of the stuff around her...

Euro Disney was ok - nothing compare to Disneyland (or even Disney world) - but maybe I'm biased because I'm from SoCal..
  • Go for it!  We're gonna take DD for her 1st bday (MIL Lives in Orlando and works for Disney!) We're actually going to try our luck with SeaWorld in a few weeks.  I think because it's a driveable trip it's worth it.  I don't think I would fly just for the trip.
