With Christmas less than a week away, I just don't feel as into it this year as I have in the past.
For financial reasons, DH and I have decided not to trade gifts this year, so maybe that has something to do with it...but I don't know, we've still done other shopping and wrapping for other family members.
I have bins of decorations that I usually put up every year just sitting in my garage untouched this year...we put our tree up, and a couple of my favorite Christmas decorations, but I've toned it down this year a lot.
Anyone else feeling this way?
Re: Anyone else just not in the holiday spirit?
I'm excited to see my family open their gifts and excited to eat some good food. That's pretty much it.
FI won't be together for Christmas this year. And as with you, for financial reasons, we decided to not trade gifts (even though I really want to buy him House seasons on DVD, I may use my Christmas bonus to do so instead of buying clothes)
I just don't feel the same about it this year as I did in the years before.
It took me a LONG time, usually my tree and outdoor lights are up the weekend after T-giving.
I did finally decorate the tree last weekend, but opted to not put up outdoor lights. Too much work! And I have like 1/4 of my shopping done, because I just have no motivation. And I am usually SUCH a Christmas girl!
Don;t feel bad - you're definitely not alone!
I am with ya'll.I even tried baking & it did nothing.?
We do plan on have gifts and stuff for Joel since he's understanding Christmas. He met Santa for the "first time" & did OK. Only a small meltdown.
?
As for gifts we have stuff for Joel and a gift for my niece who's 1.
?
For us we told each other to give each other some money to spend on something but not a large amount under $100.
?
We budget for this near the New Year and not touch it for anything. DH is a hugh Dave Ramsey fan. He's all about making a budget.?
Eh, my Christmas is already over except juggling the actual holidays. My family came in on Dec 5, stayed through the 14th, and we already had the visit with Grandma/Aunts, Uncles, etc. We did the exchange with my parents and my bro.
I am bummed because we aren't doing ANYTHING for Christmas . It'll probably be a "Jewish Christmas" because our friends (who are Jewish and who we celebrate Hanukkahh with on Sunday/Monday) are just gonna come and hang out and we'll watch movies. I don't know... just doesn't seem Christmassy. I'm so used to having SOME sort of actual extended family over. Even my brother (who lives 13 miles away is going somewhere else.)
But, one thing I am excited about: FINDING OUT THE SEX OF THE BABY!!!
DH and I have it in an envelope and we'll find out Christmas morning.
