Clomid/Ovidrel only protocol for an IUI Cycle

After seeing my RE today he suggested that I try an Clomid Ovidrel protocol before proceeding with DE (everything crossed that this works) and that my follicles grow to the 20-23 range that they need to be for an IUI. I was just wondering has anyone on here done this protocol and did it work for you??

I am doing that protocol starting Fri. (CD3). This will be my first cycle with the RE.

I did Clomid, Ovidrel, IUI once- I was not successful but I did get several good-sized follicles.

I did Clomid + HCG triggered 3 times. I only ever did 50mg of Clomid and got 1 follicle once and 2 follicles twice.

I had never heard of this protocol so wasn't sure if this protocol had been successful with increasing follicle size they want my follicle size to increase to 20-23 so that I'm able to hopefully do an IUI the last time my follicle was 16 and had my IUI cycle canceled because of it.

My Re suggested this protocol today this is my last resort before I'd have to use donor eggs

My second IUI I had to have canceled because my follicles didn't grow enough and my eggs didn't mature. The Re today said that he had seen some good results with this protocol in people that have high FSH levels. So I'm hoping everything crossed that I'm the same way and that the follicles grow and my eggs mature with this protocol.

I was on clomid 100mg + ovidrel for my 1st IUI. Clomid made me overstim I ended up with 9 follies. It very hard to know how your case will go, as my issues are completely different from you( my Dx is muellerian anomaly and slight MFI).

Just out of curiosity, what was your previous protocol? I may be wrong but I thought clomid was basically your first line drug before jumping to the big guns.

Sorry for the hijack! We are starting with 50 mg+ ovidrel for my first IUI and are dealing with MFI too. Did you try the 50 mg yet? I have been wondering if I would overstim on the 50.

I did clomid + ovidrel for both of mine and the 2nd was successful, although short-lived. However I don't have a DOR diagnosis, I'm unexplained and I respond with 2-3 follicles on 50mg clomid.

I have done this protocol twice. Once it ended with a pregnancy but that pregnancy ended in miscarriage. I think this is a relatively common practice.

I just did this protocol this cycle for my first IUI. I was on 50mg Clomid+TI for 3 months and was getting 2-3 good size follicles per month. I upped it to 100mg this month and got 3 good size (18-23mm) and 1 maybe (14mm) follicle, along with a bunch that were <10mm. My RE said anything over 14 will release with the Ovidrel. I did the IUI this past Monday, so can't tell if it worked yet. However, I have very healthy ovaries (according to my RE and knock on wood), so I'm not sure I'm the norm based on what I've read from other women on this board.

Nope haven't tried 50mg clomid. My IUI ended being concerted to cryoocyte IVF and at the moment I have a lovely six pack of embies getting ready for a 5dt!

Hello - I am on clomid and will be starting ovidrel hopefully Monday. When I went yesterday follies were only at 13 mm but I had just taken my last clomid Thursday night, we are hoping for big fat follies on Monday and then I will use my ovidrel and IUI sometime next week. Best of luck to you!!

I'm DOR and tried that protocol for our first IUI. I ended up with three follicles at 17, 19, and 20. The IUI wasn't successful for us and my lining was thinner than they wanted. Good luck with your cycle!

Thanks everyone fingers crossed that this combination of things will allow my follicles to grow more this time and allow my eggs to mature so that I can complete a second IUI and hopefully get great news that it worked.

First IUI that I actually was able to complete my protocol was Follistim (no response switched me to Menopur halfway throughout that worked and got me to my first IUI) Second IUI was a Menopur only protocol but that got canceled because my eggs didn't mature and the follicle didn't grow large enough to trigger. I'm hoping that this time my follicle gets to the 20-23 range lots of growth so that I can have a shot at second IUI this time

Like Banker said, it's not an uncommon protocol at all. It was one of the first my RE suggested but we wanted to try TI first.

I had 3-4 follicles each time that measured 18-28, depending on the cycle. But keep in mind that everyone responds differently to the medications and even depending on the cycle.

My first IUI started out with Follistim injections then switched over to Menopur at the end that gave me a good result and got me to my first IUI but that was a BFN then my second shot at an IUI my Re just put me on the highest does of Menopur and I didn't respond as well that time around could even get to the point of triggering for an IUI and was canceled. When the last cycle was canceled he suggested donor eggs but then when my husband and I sat down with him last week he said that I could try an IUI cycle with Clomid and Ovidrel he told me that he had seen this work with some woman who have high FSH levels. So hopefully that is my case. Gotta wait till my next cycle to give it a go.

The main goal my RE wants to see with this Clomid Ovidrel cycle is an increase in my follicle sizes as well as eggs maturing so I'm hoping that this combination works for me.

Thank you for the Good luck I'm hoping it works also my RE has seen this protocol work with people with high FSH so i'm hoping the same goes for me as well.
