Hm.. I would just try new things as PP said. Sometimes LO rejects something one week and then loves it the next. We've done tilapia, turkey and chicken. Turkey was his favorite.
I definitely agree with the other ladies. I have to keep trying. One day M loves something and then the next she acts like she's never had it before. I've learned that she likes things the way I like them (not the 'baby way'). She likes things seasoned, not plain.
I've tried deli turkey many times. No success. I've tried rotisserie turkey. Nope. Chicken (grilled, sautéed, nuggets (homemade and all natural). Nothing.
I will keep trying.
Maybe I'll make homemade fish sticks and I'll have to try hotdogs, too.
I have tried turkey sausage from Cracker Barrel and he eats that.
Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I just have to keep trying.
I don't think it's too necessary that babies eat meat at this age. Mine gobbles up eggs, yogurt, cheese, lentils, beans, tofu, almond butter, peanut butter, peas and quinoa which all are good protein sources.
I agree to try meat as part of something and to pay attention to texture. The biggest meat hits over here are shredded slow-cooked pork with apricot-Dijon glaze and veggies, and shredded roasted chicken with veggies. I serve the shredded meat mixed in with the super soft veggies and she loves it.
My attempts at ground meat or plain chicken breast have been less successful.
My DD isn't big on meat that is dry. For example the first go around for meatloaf, hamburger, chicken is usually ok, but reheated is usually a fail because it's dried out some. I think a stewed meat is a good idea and will try that shortly. Shredded beef worked one night. I also agree it's a texture thing. And a chewing thing. Mine still doesn't have anything but the front teeth.
Well I tried the turkey sausage crumbles at dinner and they were a success. He gobbled them up and I even out more on his tray and he ate about half of the second helping I gave him. I'll try to hotdog tomorrow at lunch time.
DS likes soft meat (that sounds gross, but something like ground beef or salmon), and he likes sauce. He'll eat chicken. I'm not a big fan of giving him ketchup, barbecue sauce, or other sugary processed sauces, but he likes something like a natural tomato sauce. He also likes really salty meat like ham and bacon, but I don't like giving him that often.
Oh yeah. Zane loves chicken salad but it's more for the other stuff in it and the dressing that it's made with. He will eat a few pieces of chicken from it but then end up spitting it out.
Re: Meat
DD loves all natural hot dogs, but most other meats she's not into. I think its a texture thing, and she'll grow into it as she tries new things.

DS eats pretty much everything.
He doesn't always eat meat, but he eats quite a variety of foods every day so I'm not concerned.
