Danbury vs Sharon Hospital

The birthing center at my local hospital recently closed. I'm extremely disappointed, because that's where I gave birth to my first son and I had a great stay there. Now I have to choose between giving birth at Danbury Hospital or Sharon Hospital. Has anyone given birth in either? I would love to hear about your experiences, pros and cons, etc.

Thanks!

Re: Danbury vs Sharon Hospital

  • Hello! I'm from Salisbury and 17 weeks pregnant with my first. There are many young children under age 4 in my neighborhood, particularly 4 that were born this year already, and all were delivered at Sharon. I too am planning on having my little one there. All of my friends rave about the birthing center there and I look forward to the experience!

  • There is a free standing birthing center in Danbury, directly across from the hospital. It is called Connecticut Childbirth and Women's Center. I love it there, and especially the fact that they are separate from the hospital, yet work with the OB and Maternity ward... check them out at www.ctbirthcenter.com.
  • Have you looked at Torrington hospital? My doctors are in New Milford, but I am delivering in Torrington.

  • im delivering in sharon...i use the group there and i love them...the midwife is awsome also...i had my son there 16 years ago and its most of the same doctors still there...i do know that the new milford hospital sent their patients to torrington but i loved the whole experience in sharon :)
  • Sharon all the way! There you labor, deliver and recover all in the same room. Danbury you get a beautiful room to deliver in and then get moved after the LO arrives. I switched to Sharon OB around 13 weeks into my pregnancy and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I've already referred two friends to the practice as well! When I delivered DD in march (via csection) we were the only baby in the center for two days. The nurses were outstanding.
  • I was born at Sharon, most of my nieces and nephews were born there. I've worked at Danbury and I currently work at Sharon. I was apprehensive to have my first baby where I work, but now that I have experienced the physicians and had a couple scary events occur, I could not be happier with my choice! The doctors know you, you are a person, not a number, which occurs in many of the larger hospitals!
