Well, that escalated quickly

I went in for my second nst today and it was going well until I had a big contraction that caused a deceleration.  They kept me for another 40 minutes in which they observed more contractions, so I had a cervix check.  It is still closed but it is beginning to soften. I am 33 weeks.

I didn't realize I was having contractions!  Stupid me thought the baby was rolling to the other side causing some tightness.  They sent me to L&D where I was monitored for quite some time.  I was contracting every 7 minutes but because my fetal Fibronectin test came back negative they let me go home.  Other than the one decel, LO is doing well.  Unfortunately, I am currently experiencing that tightening again lasting a minute or less, about every 8 minutes.  Twice more and I'll probably go back to L & D.  I see others are having some scares, good thoughts to you all.

Update:  Things slowed down yesterday so I didn't go in.  I am on modified bedrest now so hopefully that helps.  Thanks for all the support, ladies.

No they didn't.  They told me to go back if I had more than 6 contractions an hour and I'm assuming they would have tried to stop them then.  How are you now?

  • Defiantly go back if it continues! At least to get your steroid shots for the baby to develop the lungs! I had this last week, but my contractions weren't as frequent. I have a history of PTL so they take no chances with me. My cervix was also soft, which they told me was normal. Drink tons of water in the meantime and don't do a single thing! Just relax! Fingers crossed!
