Crib Strike, Night 3

I am going to go insane.
G went down at 8 (after fighting and crying the 7 pm attempt and winning).
Up at 10:30 (!!!) for the 1st feed.
Back down until 11:30 (!!?!!!!), when I soothed him back to sleep again.
Up again to feed at 1, which is our normal.
Then up again at 2. Fed AGAIN. Never went back to sleep.
He's got a dry diaper, I added a sleep sack because he was cold, sang till I couldn't sing anymore. I've tried putting him down happy and awake with his mobile, drowsy with his projector, drowsy in the dark, and sound asleep.
Nothing is working, and this is the third night of this.
And H is snoring. SNORING! Ugh.

So now it's 3:36 and G is asleep on my chest with my nip in his mouth because I don't know what else to do. But I can't sleep like this.

So, to return to my original point, I am going to go insane!

(And yes, all my exclamation points ((eleventy!!!?!?!!!)) are warranted! :-p )

Re: Crib Strike, Night 3

  • You deserve those exclamation points and more! Hope you get some sleep soon.

  • I had the same kind of night two nights ago and last night. I have got maybe an hour and a half of sleep last night. I feel like I have a newborn again!!! He will only sleep good after nursing on the boppy with me in the recliner. He has been waking up every 2 hours or even less when I put him back in the crib. I'm tired of sleeping sitting up!!! Don't know how I'm going to make it today....

  • I have had nights like this and It's mentally and physically exhausting. Thankfully it didn't last for us so hang in there.

    Exclamation marks totally warranted.

  • We are going through the same thing. C lasts approximately 1.5 hours before waking up crying and will not return to his crib. He has spent the rest of the night in bed with me for the past week and he's so restless. My Hs out of town for work and I just texted him about how exhausted I am. Ever get so tired you just want to cry?

  • Are you transitioning to the crib for the first time?   I am wondering if you might try to recreate as much as possible his old sleep environment.   Like if he was in a RNP could you use a crib wedge to mimic the elevation?

Nope, he's been in the crib for 2 months and was doing really well with it.

  • You take all the exclamation points you want. Dang! I hope he takes a 12 hour nap this afternoon so you can get some sleep too. Geeze. I'll have my fingers crossed for you tonight.

Wow. Sounds awful! And a lot like what we are going through- maybe it's the San Diego air? ;) not funny? Yeah, I know. I think it has to be due to either teething or them learning something new. M didn't stay asleep for more than an hour at a time after her first unimpressive 3.5 hour stretch. Big hugs to you!

  • We are going through exact same thing but not feeding him. Trying the Ferber method tonight in hope that he is just getting smarter and knows mommy and daddy will come rock him. Hang in there!
  • I'm sorry that you are going through this as I went through the same thing while T was going through the sleep regression and it sucked! I finally gave in and let him sleep in bed with me because that was the only way we were going to get any sleep!

I was so worried that it would become a habit, but luckily he went back to sleeping in his crib on his own. Hang in there, I'm sure the strike will be over soon!
  • I hope tonight goes better!

Me too! He went down easier, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

And I'm hoping we all have good sleepers tonight!

I definitely cried into my pillow last night. Three nights in a row was just too much. He finally went back to sleep in his crib around 4:30. Up at 7 to feed, and then back to sleep until 9, which is really unusual. So today wasn't as bad as I expected. :)

  • We are in the same boat. I feel your pain.
  • Ugh we have the exact same problem all of a sudden. She used to go down so easily and last week she was going from 7pm to 3 am. I thought she was finally STTN and now she's up every two hours at least. I've tried everything but I'm afraid to revert to old habits so most of thetimei've been breastfeeding her to sleep. I so frustrated I could cry.

  • Yikes. I'm hoping the crib cures our sleep woes.  Lo had been sleeping in the PNP but is probably exceeding the weight limit so we had to lower the mattress. Now it's like she is sleeping in a playpen and she hates it.  Now she constantly wakes up so I put her on my chest in bed and she sleeps great. I plan to bring the crib down into our bedroom and give that a try. She sleeps in a crib at DC and does fine. I'm just not ready to put her in her own room yet- it's too far from our bedroom at this point.

  • Last night C slept from 9:30 to 6:45!!!.....in bed between my H and I. Sigh. That is one thing we always said we wouldn't do, but as a parent, you quickly learn you'll do anything for sleep.

And I should add that he ate at 6:45 and went back to sleep until 9! I hope others start having good luck!

  • Hopefully it won't last too much longer. We went through this last week for three days. One night I ended up sitting straight up in bed holding LO in my arms with my nipple in her mouth for at least 4-5 hours. Thank goodness for headphones and an ipad! I hope it pasts quickly for you.

  • Last night was so much better! Down at 9 - super late but he took a crazy late afternoon nap. 3 MOTNs to feed, which is our normal, and up at 7! Not quite as much sleep as he should have, but way more than he's been getting.
