March 2014 Moms

~*~ PgAL Check-in ~*~

Good afternoonl! Sorry this is a little later than usual. I just got home.

This is the weekly March '14 PgAL check-in. This is a place for anyone due March 2014 that has suffered a previous pregnancy loss, whether it was a chemical pregnancy or stillbirth. PgAL is an exciting but scary place so please feel free to share your thoughts, concerns, milestones and vents. Mostly, this check-in is to remind all of us that we are not alone in the journey and to offer support along the way. Check-in is every Friday.

Welcome to our new members! @IdyllicPursuit

Re: ~*~ PgAL Check-in ~*~

  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week?
    A banana or a can of pop.

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?
    Feeling great emotionally and physically. Just sore hips and back in the mornings.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share?
    Had my A/S today! Everything looked perfect and measuring right on for 20 weeks!!

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Loving that I'm feeling LO move more often.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate?
    We decorated with a fall wreath, hay bale and some pumpkins. Will put little Halloween houses with candles in the windows for trick or treat night.
  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? 19 weeks. Mango
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? M/S is finally getting better! Still no energy, but I prefer no energy over M/S any day.
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I have my high risk appointment on November 4th at 9:45am. Until I get the okay from that appointment, I have to stay on bed rest.
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? None this week! :)
    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate?
    I love decorating and still dress up. Like @MadApple I'll be wearing a hoodie that is very similar to the shirt she posted. And our town does Halloween earlier for the smaller kids as well. It's actually going on tomorrow and starting around 11am. It's nice because tomorrow is also DS's birthday! :) He'll be 4! So, he's going to have a blast being able to go trick or treating and then have his birthday party right after.
  • @MadApple that shirt is adorable! I'm carving a pumpkin this weekend too. I always have candy ready for trick-or-treaters, but we never get any, and the past two years Halloween has been interrupted by a freak snowstorm and then Hurricane Sandy, so I don't know what this year will bring. That really sucks about the headaches. :(
    @TDeneeS woohoo for a great scan!
    @MissyMonster that sucks about bed rest but at least your LO is nice and safe in there. Are you keeping busy with reading or tv or other things?
  • My fruit this week is banana :)
    I'm feeling alright, a little bit anxious. Been having weird cramps off and on all day and its making me really nervous. :-S
    Appointment is set for Monday for my A/S. I'm anxious about that as well. Never made it to one before, so I'm a little nervous about things that could go wrong. :/ I know....not doing myself any favors worrying about the unknown.
    No crazies to add this week :)
    Oh and my edd is March 10! Thanks for keeping that list so up to date!
    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? Pomegranate (in a few hours)
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Physically, I am hungry... Emotionally I am irritated cause DH is taking forever and all I want is to eat something, lol.
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Next A/S scheduled for December 2nd (see below).
    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate? We don't celebrate Halloween.
    How did the a/s go? A/S was scheduled for 10:15, they ask that we arrive 15 minutes early for the paperwork or whatever. Finally had my name called to go back at 10:45 (after the 45 minute wait). Side note, another lady walked in and she waved at the lady behind the glass.. she waited only 5 minutes before being called back!! Ticked me off a little. Anyways.. Finally got to the ultrasound part of the whole thing. The tech gave us the fastest u/s known to man. I refer to is as the "NASCAR pit stop version". We only got to see the baby's face for a few seconds before she started quickly getting the other measurements. She told us that she was really behind because none of the babies wanted to cooperate with her. Our LO apparently was breech the whole time so it was hard for her to get a straight on view of the gender. She guessed that the baby is a girl. She said by the long view she was convinced that LO is a girl. She even started calling her a her. DH is still not convinced that LO is a girl, until the next ultrasound on December 2nd. Apparently the tech was unable to get all the pictures she needed so we have to reschedule.The pictures that we walked away with are all a blur. All except for the foot shot. I was really happy for that picture because now I know LO has my feet. I have a little bit of a gap in between my big toe and the next toe over. DH doesn't have it at all. The tech said she is 90% sure LO is a girl.. so until December 2nd I am claiming Team Pink.
  • @LiFeIsAmIrAcLe I get it, I was nervous before my a/s too. Just try to keep distracted and take deep breaths. I hope your cramping goes away. I had some and my ob said it's normal, but if you're really in pain you should give them a call.
    @MissyMonster I'm sure my DH would be the same way in that situation. Hope you get the all clear soon!
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? i had my weekly appointment today. they found fluid in my left cervix and she isnt sure what it is so she is sending the images to my MFM. She said not to worry yet until they know more. she kept asking me if i thought i was leaking amniotic fluid.  I only saw my regular ob today. next week I go to my MFM and they are going to finish my anatomy scan because 3 weeks ago the baby was doing too many flips to get all of the images they needed.
    @ufsandra85 good luck next week! I hope everything goes smoothly, but it's great that your dr doesn't seem too concerned.
  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? 18 weeks- pint of Ben and Jerrys!
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Good!
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I had an appointment yesterday and heard the nice strong heartbeat! It was so nice to hear after a month of nothing. So yes, I finally told work today!! I walked in to the partners office and asked if she had a second- and then started to close the door. She says "uh oh, is this bad?? You are closing the door!" So I told her and she says, "That's not bad, that's fantastic!" I have no idea why I was so nervous :)
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Feeling less crazy today. Told the last of my good friends too :)
  • I did, a/s went great, baby is healthy and wiggly and you can put me down for a girl :)
    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? (Try this one or this one) 19 weeks, a mango
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?  Physically I feel like I have a small bowling ball in my uterus.  I definitely feel pregnant now, it's like it just happened over the last week.  Emotionally I am feeling ok...a little nervous as I get closer to my loss milestone, but I've had excellent appts so far.
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share?  My a/s went great, my cervix is measuring even longer so everything is looking fabulous.
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Since I am 3 weeks from my loss milestone, I requested to be seen (and my cervix checked) weekly for the next month instead of every other week.  The day of my a/s (Tuesday) I felt a little silly for needing to come in weekly...now just three days later I am so grateful and cannot wait for my next installment of reassurance.
    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate?  We put hay bales and pumpkins on the porch.  We usually carve them and hand out candy but we're leaving for Vegas on halloween this year.  In the past we've gotten dressed up either to go out to a bar or hand out candy.  Some years we go to a historical village that has a halloween nights attraction where you walk around the village, dress up, get candy, and there are different things set up, like the headless horseman, the grim reaper, etc.  And of course, you go to the pavillion to warm up and get yummy cider and donuts and other stuff.
    20w6d so a few more hours we are in the banana range
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?
    I am actually doing pretty good both physically and emotionally. I have been getting the occasional heartburn which is no fun.
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share?
    I had my first post cerclage cervix check and my cervix is measuring 2.1cm below the cerclage placement and the dr is very pleased. Baby boy likes to rest his head right on too of my cervix and make it hard for the techs to get measurements without having to poke and wiggle him out of the way. He is measuring about 14oz which is bigger than our daughter who was 11.8 oz when she was born at 20w4d. So it's nice to know he is growing away in there.
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?
    I passed my loss milestone on Thursday at 20w5d. As strange as it sounds I was very pleased when they told me baby was measuring at 14oz because that is so close to a pound and that means we are so close to him having a chance if something were to happen soon. But I also have a good feeling that this little guy is going to term!
    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to
    celebrate?
    We have decorations up around the house inside. DH will be taking DS trick or treating and I will be home handing out candy as it is too much activity for me to take DS out.
    I plan to wear this (this is how we announced on fb)
  • @ellajune2012 Appointment was good but a little frustrating. All looks good and measuring right at my date.  And we found out we are having a BOY!  Frustrating because as I was getting scanned the tech said that they can't detect VSD this early and then the MFM said the same thing.  I don't know why they scheduled me at 18 weeks if you can't tell until 20-22 weeks.  They knew my dates and the reason I was being referred.  So now I get to go back and do it all again in 3 weeks.
    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? (Try this one or this one)
    18 weeks, sweet potato
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?
    Pretty good both physically and emotionally.  Just starting to feel a little big rather than just fat.  And my Mom and I just discussed Shower dates!  Looks like the 3rd week of February for me.  (I am due March 26, so later than most on the board)
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share?
    Just that we are having a BOY!
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?
    Nothing crazy this week.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate?

    I will be handing out candy to all the kiddies.  I can't wait!  I love answering the door every time.
  • I love your shirt @MadApple

    MH actually told my SIL not to buy something like that for me when she saw it and showed it to him.  Now I am disappointed.  I would have loved to hand out candy with it on.
  • @ellajune2012 I don't see your responses.  I am trying to remember if we see your responses usually.  How are you doing?

    Sorry, not sure why it's all bunched together. I tried to fix it a few times. What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? (Try this one or this one) 19 weeks, a mango --- How are you feeling physically/emotionally? I've been feeling really great, both emotionally and physically. More tired some days, but that's normal. --- Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I had my monthly check up today. Haven't gained a pound yet this pregnancy. I'm happy about that, since I'm overweight already. Everything went great, heartbeat sounded awesome. We scheduled another ultrasound in 3 weeks to get better views of the heart. --- Any PgAL crazy you want to add? I'm finally not nervous or scared about anything, except delivery. I had a c/s with dd, so I get to choose if I want to attempt a VBAC or have another cs. I can't seem to make up my mind, but I'm leaning toward another C. The appointment today really eased my mind, finally. I have an anterior placenta. I was nervous for some time because I felt flutters early and then would go a couple weeks without feeling anything. I'm glad I know that it's probably because of where the placenta is. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate? We don't celebrate Halloween or any holidays for that matter. Eta- format

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Pretty good in general. I am really tired, but am happy about my new job although I'm sad to leave my current kiddies for new ones.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Got referred to an OB, my family doctor follows the pregnancy until 20weeks, so I just had my last appt monday and everything looks good. I'm nervous about telling my new boss about my pregnancy eke! I hope it goes well.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? nope :) Still having some crazy dreams, but that's it.

  • @LiFeIsAmIrAcLe I get it, I was nervous before my a/s too. Just try to keep distracted and take deep breaths. I hope your cramping goes away. I had some and my ob said it's normal, but if you're really in pain you should give them a call.

    @MissyMonster I'm sure my DH would be the same way in that situation. Hope you get the all clear soon!

    The cramping has gone away.  I think maybe she was laying really low. It started when I went out for a walk.....my belly got super super tight and I started having bad lower belly cramps and then my back started hurting pretty badly as well.  Got home, checked for any bleeding or spotting, but there was none, so that was a relief.  As soon as I sat down and drank some water, everything eased up and went away.  It just scared me (and I know you guys can relate) because after the two losses, it feels like I am more in tune to every little change in feeling.

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Still dizzy as I mentioned but much better! Emotionally I'm super sensitive but still trying to not cry at everything (songs on the radio, commercials, tv shows and even news reports)

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share?
    A/s was good. Baby was about 12 oz very squirmy. In the pics we brought home she has Halloween face (staring right at us)
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?
    I think I'm doing better as time goes on. Baby's breach so that maybe why I was not feeling as much movement at first! Love That we got to see her again!

    oops! I usually do try to respond but half the time I forget to.

    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week?
    I'm a pomegranate

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Physically pretty good. A little stressed out since I am trying to do my job AND take over stuff for a coworker on leave, and in the meantime we're trying to get paperwork together so we can make an offer on a house.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Just had an appointment last Friday where I found out that due to my history of fibroids, they want me to have monthly ultrasounds at the MFM. So now I have two monthly appointments to go to.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Not exactly PgAL related, but getting a little annoyed at all the "oh you're so tiny" comments. I know they don't mean bad, but it makes me feel like something is wrong. I wish people would just keep any and all weight comments to themselves. And also, my mom is starting to get a little carried away talking about buying things. It's cute that she's so excited, but we might need to have a talk.

    QOTW: I wanted to carve a pumpkin this weekend but the days got away from us so fast! Maybe I'll do it tonight. I always keep candy on hand just in case but we've never had trick-or-treaters by the apartment so I'm not holding out any hope for this year.

  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week?

    Pomegranate.  I have no idea how big a pomegranate is - why is this a useful comparison?  Stupid Bump.

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?

    Physically I feel fine - emotionally I'm ready for this damn baby to MOVE.  Thank god I did buy a doppler because it's been putting in overtime to keep me from completely losing my mind.  It's very frustrating and I seriously need to step away from 20+ week loss stories.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share?

    OB is next week, then the following week is our 2nd AS (they couldn't see her face on the 1st so going back for additional measurements).  I also noticed that Nov is my last month for monthly appointments - going to every 2 weeks starting in Dec!  It doesn't feel like time is passing at all but there's proof that it is.  Huh.

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?

    I don't think my obsession with the lack of movement is PgAL specific.  I might be worse/more paranoid than non-loss moms but I can't imagine they're not also frustrated with the wait - so not this week :)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate?
    Not really - I just like to pass out candy and judge people for letting their kids ToT older or younger than I feel is appropriate and/or for wearing what I deem to be inappropriate costumes.  I also live on a fairly busy street near a somewhat popular spot to swap sides of the street and spend hours every year watching kids make stupid crosses.  Some year I'm going to see a tragedy - I'm not looking forward to it at all :(
  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? We'll go with an electric shaver this week. Since I cheesily LOL'ed at that one.
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Physically, starting to get some small aches and pains. Ute kinda hurts if I stand up too quickly. Getting some fun pains down my glutes from time to time. Discovered last night tummy sleeping is no more - getting too hard I guess, just tossed and turned last night. Boo!
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? We have out a/s scheduled for next Tuesday! Ahhh so excited, yet nervous at the same time.
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add? I finally went shopping for some maternity basics as i can tell I'm starting to slowly pop out and most of my pants, even with the belly band, aren't terribly comfortable for work at least. So hit the Motherhood sale. Came home, started to unpack my bag of goodies and had a minor panic attack. Bc I jumped the gun last time and bought said belly bands and unpacked them only to mc 2 weeks later. So as I stared at those clothes, even being 18 weeks + 2 days yesterday, having heard the strong heartbeat just a week ago, and having a scan scheduled in another week, I kinda freaked out. Convinced myself if I took them all out and washed and put them away, something horrible is going to happen. DH came home from the football game to me surrounded by the stuff on our floor, full on ugly crying, with kitties meowing and trying so hard to make me stop. He gets brownie points (and me giving in on a gender reveal thing he wants to do - see Friday's ticker change post from March '14 for those fun details) for being so good about it, calming me down, removing all said tags and starting the wash for me. And making dinner ;-)
    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate? I'm not a huge decorator. I dunno, I juts never got too into it because my parents never did much I suppose. I put a few things out here and there, but don't go too crazy.
    I need to ask a question regarding my PgAL crazy. Ok. So the second the ultrasound tech said boy. I said his name out loud. DH and I decided we wouldn't do that because we are paranoid now. But I said it before I even got off the table. Now I can't stop calling him by his name.
    Now I'm thinking, if something happened to him, I'd have to change his name. Because I have to use this name for my son. But now I feel completely BSC over it. I say his name 100 times in my head, say it out loud... But what if, what if, what if.
    I'm making myself crazy!!!! Is this normal thinking??
  • Stay with me for a minute, k?
    Last year my father died.  Since about 2 months after that, my mother periodically says something to me about how she "needs to get over it" or how "people" will think badly of her for doing X or Y "too soon".  Every time this comes up I remind her that there is no correct pace to grieve for your husband.  I tell her that if, 10 years from now, she's crying all day every day in front of a shrine to him with blackout shades over the windows while wearing his clothes, then I'm going to talk to her MD about getting her some help.  Everything short of that is the "right" speed for grieving.
    My point is that there is no normal thinking about this.  Someone you loved died.  Only you get to decide what the normal way is to deal with that.  If it starts to interfere with your day to day living, then you probably should seek professional support - but whatever else feels right, is right.
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I had an appointment yesterday and heard the nice strong heartbeat! It was so nice to hear after a month of nothing. So yes, I finally told work today!! I walked in to the partners office and asked if she had a second- and then started to close the door. She says "uh oh, is this bad?? You are closing the door!" So I told her and she says, "That's not bad, that's fantastic!" I have no idea why I was so nervous :)
    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? (Try this one or this one) Don't follow fruit anymore, but I'm 21 and a half weeks
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Physically I can't get full. Like, I am so hungry, all the time. Emotionally, good!
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? My best friend felt light baby taps last night (I am staying with her in philly on a mini vacation). It was HUGE because the taps I feel are so subtle and relatively inconsistent, and one of the ultrasound techs told me I had an AP (doctor didn't mention it though). Next appointment is at 23.5.
  • @PinupMomma08 Everything you said is totally normal to feel. Try not to think what if, it will just drive you crazy. Give your unborn son the love and affection that he deserves (saying his name and giving him an identity is part of that), and if something were to happen, then you enjoyed his presence on this earth to the fullest of your capacity.
    I will also share this with you, my first son passed away at 3 days old and to this day (almost 11 years later) when I hear his name I tear up. Names are a strong identifier, so it's ok to worry about saying it, but like I said I think that he deserves to be called by his name and just try not to worry about the outcome.
  • Hi ladies! Better late then never, I"m checking in on MOnday! Hope everyone had a good weekend.
    What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week?  I think this week I'm at mango size!
    How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Physically, I'm still pretty much all good. A little extra tired, but still not in bad shape. I've been a little emotional this week, because we found out through the bloodwork after our NT scan that our baby's risk of Downs Syndrome is higher than normal. It's 1/300ish, where my age norm is 1/700ish. They'll check some markers during the A/S in a couple weeks, but in the meantime it's making me a bit nervous. I would still love my baby if it was born with Downs, of course, but it brings with it a lot of challenges for raising the child. I'm glad we went through with the NT scan, though, so I can be prepared if it does seem likely. Now I'm that much more eager for the A/S on Nov 13!
    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Just a regular appt next Tues, and then the anatomy scan on Nov 13.
    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate?

    I have a few fall decorations around the house, but Halloween is my least favorite holiday. I'll try to be less of a grump when I have kids and they're excited, but this is one last year I can pretty much boycott :)
  • What's everyone's fruit (or other fun comparison) this week? (Try this one or this one) 18wk6day - Sweet potato today and mango tomorrow - these fruit things are weird....

    How are you feeling physically/emotionally?

    Pretty good - I went on a work trip which caused me to be MIA on this thread last week.  I am starting to wake up more in the night but am doing a little better energy wise.

    Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share?

    A/S is tomorrow!! It seems like we are getting close to everyone doing there scans.  Mine is earlier than 20 weeks, but I am doing it at a MFM and they go by my last measurement and this day fell in line.  Fingers crossed that they get everything they need!

    Any PgAL crazy you want to add?

    I am losing some of the crazy.  Actually surprised myself with not being concerned with my NT scan/bloodwork results.  The clinic never contacted me and I casually asked about it.  So I guess that is some non crazy.

    I did get a little freaked out after my trip.  It was a work conference and I connected with a bunch of people I see once or twice a year.  This is the first time I was telling people about the baby that I wouldn't want to call if something were to happen. I tried to push the thought out as soon as it came but PGaL crazy does what it wants!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    QOTW: It's almost Halloween! Do you decorate or dress up or do anything to celebrate?
    We are not big on celebrating but I have some decorations that I love and put out.  It is weird because I love spooky things but we tend to hunker down and watch Ghost Hunters.  We live in a rural spot, so we get no trick or treaters.  I wonder what we will do when we have a little one :)
