What are you guys doing to fill your day? I was telling my mom I feel like we have to do two outings a day to help avoid meltdowns. She thinks I'm insane. But im finding it harder and harder to fill our day and keep her entertained. Its not freezing out but its starting to get colder. There are only so many walks a day we can take. Ive already pinned some sensory stuff. But I thought id ask what you guys have been doing?

Lol @mandie727 I wish we had more kids on our block. We play in the back yard a little but that kills 20 minutes. Also have you seen the markers that only write in special paper?? I bought some of those today and im praying it will hold her attention for longer than 2 minutes.

I also bought some playdo so we will see if that ends up being a disaster or not

Oh @leilei7369 she will probably love gymboree. Lots of crazy kids, singing, bubbles, and climbing. We go 4 times a week, sometimes more...

Ava would be fine staying home all day I think, but it's me that tends to go crazy here for too long. We did Gymboree classes all summer and throughout Sept but then our nearest location suddenly closed overnight (it was very strange) so the next closest one takes about an hour each way to drive there. Not worth it anymore.

I did join several local Meet Up groups but I'm not always able to go to their events since my work schedule is so varied. We have been getting together with a mom & little boy who is just 6 days older than Ava that we met at Gymboree for play dates so that's been fun.

Besides that, we've gone to the library, to the park, to the mall, etc. When at home we venture out into the yard if the weather is ok and we also visit all the animals several times a day.

We do Gymboree, story time at the library, playground, target. I'm going to sign her up for swim lessons this winter and a day of parents day out. About once a month we go to the zoo.

You all are amazing. It seems like I do absolutely nothing compared to you all. I'm lucky if we go anyplace 1x a week. I have major anxiety and really need to work on it. We do walk everyday, playground, sidewalk chalk, play with neighborhood kids, and take G on her bike, and just "play" outside. Weekends are full of activities because I feel stuck all week and the husband is home. This weekend we are doing zoo boo and going to the pumpkin patch.

@nesenotes I do the same thing! I dread days where we don't have anyplace to go. I think it's all anxiety on my part but I feel pressure to keep her stimulated and learning. I found a mother's group on meetup.com and it's been the best thing ever. People post library activites from other cities, we set up playground dates, and have made a ton of new mom friends. It's great! We just had a big halloween party today. Have you searched meetup before?

I was more so looking to see what everyone does at home. Maybe I should have clarified more sorry. We do a lot of outings, its at home I have a very hard time keeping her entertained. She has a million toys but I feel like nothing holds her attention very long. She also isnt too into the tv.

Oh I see....I have no advice there. I am in your boat and really need ideas for more structured activities at home. She isn't too into coloring yet. I bought some pipe cleaners to try an idea I found on Pinterest - let them put them in/pull them out of a colander. And she really likes magnets so i'm going to buy an oil drip pan from Walmart and paint it with chalkboard paint and get some magnets for it -- so she can use it for a chalkboard and play with magnets.

@missmusic also a good idea. She loves bags, wallets and credit cards!! And at this rate she is forcing the one on one time. I cant do a thing without her wanting to do it too. I cant even look at my phone or she goes crazy. I miss the old days when she played alone.

Does she have a doll? Tumaini will stay busy for an hour, playing with her dolls. She has a fake bottle, and I give her a spoon and a small bowl, and she "feeds" them. She does everything with her dolls that I do with her. The other day, she took a kleenex out of the box, and wiped the nose of all her dolls. It was hilarious.

We do bathtime a lot. If she's into painting, you can buy paint that's safe to ingest and easily washable, and put her in the bath with a few different colors, and let her "paint" the bath. When she's done, just run the shower to wash the paint and the toddler. Another activity that was so easy was to put food coloring in some water in your ice tray, and then put the colored ice cubes in the bath and try to encourage her to go get them.

I also let her do things that are more "grown-up", even if she fails miserably, at least she tried. You can try letting her help you bake. I've let her try to decorate a cake before. Maybe cookie cutting? And then decorate?

Tumaini also loves to "sweep" lately. Does she have access to the broom?

We don't have TV, but when I really need a few minutes of downtime, I put on a slide show of babies, or baby animals on Youtube, and she gets all excited, if only for a few minutes.

Dance parties, always fun. I put the radio on when I'm making supper, and whenever a song with a good beat comes on, I turn it up and we dance like crazy people.

I'll keep thinking...
