New Car!

So we are one car family--I don't drive--and we had an SUV that was a couple years ago--and of course started to die this week. DH brought it to the dealership and it was under warranty....but now was itching to get a new car.

Originally he wanted the SUV because he thought that was what we would need--I didn't think it would be necessary. And of course gas for it was a huge expense. He also HATES driving the SUV--and much prefers the sedan cars.

He went to the dealership yesterday about a loaner car and really fell in love with a car. However, the dealership wasn't budging much on the price and the payment was too high. My stipulations was the payment had to remain the same or at least close to what we were paying now-give or take 20 dollars. So he brought back the loaner car today and pretty much told them no, the payment was too high.

Well of course as soon as he walked out--they started to negotiate with him.

So yeah, our weekend is starting with a new car purchase.

  • Honestly? Not sure.

I know it is a hyundai. But because I am never the driver of a car---as long as I can sit in it comfortably--I really don't care.

They REALLY wanted him to get a car though. The loaner car that they gave him was the model he was looking at.

It definitely worked in their favor.

He did call me from the dealership and pretty much made me the bad guy in the negations saying that the car payment can't be more then 20 dollars that we pay now. :)

Do you want to come with me next time we buy a car?

Before we got married, MH's car died the week before his parents visited so we spent the entire visit car shopping.  It was stressful, but kind of awesome since MH's husband lives to haggle.  It was such a relief.

It was awful when we had to buy the next car with just the two of us.

I would love to. I've gotten some amazing deals on cars. I'm pretty proud. Just keep the Advil handy because I always leave with a headache.

  • Honestly? I am not sure how much he really haggled :)

But I was SOOO glad I wasn't there. Seriously. He didn't leave the dealership until 9:30 at night---he got off of work by 5.

That part definitely sucks. For my last car we were at the dealership for 7 hours.

  • Seriously. I hate that part. I am glad that I just got to veg on the couch, put Reese to bed and relax.

Spending hours at the car dealership=not fun.
