Well hello there!

I stopped coming to the board (other than an occasional lurking) because I used to get a spam pop-up every time I came here that would lock my computer. I tried today and - voila - it's gone! YAY! Now I can actually hopefully post a little more. (I really prefer to type on a keyboard rather than my phone).

Where is everyone? What's going on?

Do you have Halloween costumes yet? I was all set to have Reese be a pirate and Charlie be a parrot, but out of nowhere she announced she wanted to be a princess! (The other little girl at her DCP is being a princess), so I caved and we are going with the super un-original princess costume, but oh well!

Charlie's being a football player, so I feel like I'm caving into gender stereotypes 101.

Hi! The board has really been slow lately - so keep coming back and help us liven it up a bit!

I have no idea what we are doing for Halloween yet. I don't think Jonny really gets the whole concept yet. We haven't done costumes or trick or treating in the past and he's not in daycare, so we haven't done much to celebrate it yet.

I'm thinking that in the next week or so we'll go to the costume store and see if he likes anything. Otherwise we have some hand-me-down cowboy boots and shirt, so I might just buy a hat and see if we can get him to wear it.

I want to try and take the boys TOT-ing this year, but it might be tough since I'm by myself that night - DH has school. But I'm hoping we can at least squeeze a few houses in before DS2 starts to melt down since he's normally in bed at 7pm.

hi there!

we dont have our costumes yet. my sister is making them and shipping them here so they will probably arrive next week. oliver is going to be an airplane, and duncan will be a helicopter (oliver chose for both of them).

i think its nice that youre letting DD be what she chooses in spite of it not being your favorite. thats what its really all about anyways, right? letting people express themselves however they choose.

sort of related...my sister has a baby girl. they were pretty clear that they didnt want to stuff pink down her throat. the wardrobe they choose for her is not heavily pink at all, they choose gender neutral toys, etc. well, they took her shopping and let her pick something for herself...and what did she choose? a pink sequin purse with a big bow. carries that thing everywhere. the important thing is she likes it.

We are good but lurky loos mostly. The boys are little firemen for Halloween. DH is a big fireman and I'm a Dalmatian. Hoping to convert our sit b stand to a firetruck but we will see how that goes with a clingy teething 1 year old

I've been planning on G being Minnie. Scored an inexpensive costume, and she's excited. But, tomorrow we are going to an event at the zoo, and it's supposed to be cold and rainy. I'm thinking I might see if I can convince her to be a fireman with her red raincoat and play hat. Who knows. O/w the Minnie dress is going to be underneath a warm jacket.

Hi! I totally struggled with costume ideas this year. The pirate & parrot idea is so cute! We almost went with that, but I ultimately went with pirate & tinkerbel.

I first thought Mickey & minnie bc dd has a Minnie dress already, but couldn't find a good Mickey outfit.

BUT..... I just can't give up this Thomas train costume. DS keeps saying he wants to be a train & I feel so bad. I found this tutorial online & I keep going back to it wanting to try to do it.

Hello! It's been pretty quiet around the board lately.

DS is going to be a robot. He's got a thing for them. When I saw that Target had a robot costume, I showed it to him and he loved it. He's tried it on a few times and refused to take it off.

DS is going as a dinosaur (the ON one) and DD is going to be Minnie (I made her a tutu to wear w/ a black shirt & leggings). I might make me a matching tutu too...

My H quit his job on Monday so week after next he will be a SAHD. eek. They had cut a shift (and since he works 10-12hr shifts it's a lot) so it doesn't make $ sense for him to stay there. It's not a permanent thing but crazy none the less.

Actually O and G are going to be a pirate and a parrot this year

After I got the costumes I told O he was going to be a pirate. Well he got excited thing he was going to be Jake. The costume looks more like capt Hook so I had to bribe him with a sword and a hook.

DD is going to be Doc Mcstuffins. In the last years my mom and MIL have bought her a Cinderella costume, lady bug, and doc muctuffins. So I let her choose from those. Although Cinderella is really big and did not really give her that option more than once because I hope to use it next year when it fits better.

welcome back!
hazel is going as the butterfly from the hungry caterpillar and henry is the caterpillar. We went to pumpkinfest last night and they got to wear their costumes for the first time. They were a big hit.

J wanted to be woody and I was going to make a Jessie dress for newbie. Then he saw a Pete the Cat costume and he keeps changing his mind between the two. I'm thinking I'm going to convince him to be pete and just put a Halloween onsie on dd. Next year we can start sibsets

I encouraged DD to be Little Red Riding Hood. She's been obsessed any story including a Big Bad Wolf since last winter, so she thought it was a great idea. MIL is supposed to be done with DDs hood and cape by tomorrow night so I can dress her up for an office trick or treat on Thursday. I'm nearly as excited to see her dressed up as she is.

Last Thursday DH picked her up from DC and asked her what she wanted to do that night, her reply was "trick or treat!" LOL.

Welcome back!
B's going to be a bumblebee. He was all set on being a cow, but while we were in Micheal's to pick up black felt for cow spots we stumbled across a headband with bumblebee antennae attached. I popped it on his head and he started "buzzzzing" up and down the aisles. We quickly switched costume ideas. A little yellow duct tape on a black shirt, some black pants and a pair of bumblebee wings and we're done. We finished it this past weekend and he looks good if I do say so myself.

We just ordered DS' costume last minute this week. He's going to be a fireman, so he can play dress-up with it after Halloween is over. Fireman Sam is pretty much his favorite thing right now!

HEY! Glad you're back! How's the little one?

My kiddos are both going to bed ladybugs. I just so happened to find a cute costume for DD2 that's warm and will fit in the carseat and DD1 liked another ladybug that is like a leotard (right up her ally!) So what the heck, they can match right!? And besides, i'm sure when they get older they'll never want to match so I might as well milk it while I can!

We were all set on the kids being Batman and Robin... started researching where to get the best deals and then about a month ago J kept saying he wanted to be Spider-man... literally, he'd say "I like Halloween, I like trick or treats, I want to dress up like Spider-man". So, out went the original concept, as Spider-man doesn't really have a side kick. Then my wife and I both had surgery, so money got tight, so J is Spider-man still, but A is wearing J's 1st Halloween costume... a very cute penguin outfit. He won't know the difference, and will only probably wind up wearing it for a total of 3 hours.
