What do you Wear?

I realize this is kind of a lame question but I'm still curious. I'm changing to SAH starting this winter and my wardrobe SUCKS. Really bad. Embarrassing. I've hardly bought anything new in years due to constant cycle of TTC; getting bigger; totally huge; baby born; going down slowly in sizes again, planning to TTC...etc, plus having zero time to ever get to the mall. I only have 2 pairs of jeans that fit and they are both low-rise (NOT good with my post-baby tummy) and boot cut. I have no skinny jeans. I have no leggings or yoga pants. Anything new I bought was usually either a cheap desperation purchase when I had time to run to Target or Kohl's, or clothes for work. So, I need a major wardrobe overhaul and am not sure what I will really want to wear every day once I'm not working. It's been a Loooooonnnggg time since I didn't need "work clothes" the majority of days.

I'm thinking jeans, tops, sweaters, plus some yoga pants or similar type days??? What do you really like to wear most days? I have 3 LOs and will be taking them on some errands and driving DD1 around, too. Thanks.

Re: What do you Wear?

  • I wear a lot of work out clothes since I work out most mornings and do errands and run around town right after. If I am not working out, I wear jeans (skinny or straight) or leggings with tops and sweaters and boots/flats.

  • I'm also in a transitional losing weight stage, so I've been buying cheap basics from old navy as things go on sale and I get coupons. Basic sweaters, skinnies and flats is what my wardrobe is consisting of for fall. A couple button downs too. I'm not impressed with their quality, but I don't expect to be wearing it long.

  • When I'm at home I wear yoga/pj pants and tank tops 100% of the time. When we go out I either wear jeans or leggings with a longish top. Not too fancy, I know.

  • Cardigans, skinny jeans/skirts with tights, and boot/flats are my staples. I don't have a lot of super nice clothes because I'm still losing the pregnancy weight, woo.

  • I'm pregnant at the moment and it's chilly here but I pretty much live in leggings these days. Long sweaters or solid cardigans with flowy tops that aren't tight on my bump. I have a few pair of leg warmers I've made too and I'm going to do a few more...I love the way they look and they actually keep my legs warm ;) I have a few pair of boots and one a couple pairs of flats they work with. I have a pair of maternity jeans but I really don't like them. I still wear my regular jeans from time to time but leggings are just so much comfier.

  • During the cooler months, I usually wear skinny jeans, a sweater, and boots.  I'll also wear leggings and a tunic.

  • I wear leggings and longer tops.  Otherwise lots of skinny jeans with the sheer button down tops over a tank top.  And flats.

  • I wear jeans and a shirt or sweater, shirt with a vest or scarf or sweater.  I live in boots for quite a few months of the year.
  • Skinny jeans or cords, a sweater, or a cute top with a cardigan, flats or boots. I also have a couple casual skirts (one cord, one tweed) that I wear with a sweater, tights, and tall boots.

  • Lots of leggings - uniqlo has great super soft fun patterns - target has cheap basics, I lately have been wearing printed leggings, tunic tops now that I'm 11w4d, open cardigans. Skinny jeans and boots, leg warmers make any outfit 10x cuter, and I get a lot of mileage out of infinity scarves. They spruce and funk up any boring leggings & sweater combo. I like legging pants too, very comfy.
  • Oh and maxi skirts and dresses! Crucial. And dark wash jeans.
  • I live in Lululemon yoga pants.  Some staples in my closet other than that are Lululemon Define jacket, lots of cardigans, more Express and The Limited tank tops than I care to admit, Gap jean jacket and hoodies.  For shoes it varies by season but right now I wear my knee high high heel boots, gray Toms, black Coach sneakers and today I pulled out my black Winter boots for the first time.  Since having DD the Gap Outlet has become my best friend, they have a lot of cute clothes for really cheap.

  • I was in your exact position last year and I didn't buy much through summer because we have such a short one that I wanted to invest in nicer fall/winter/spring clothes. Unless I am going to the gym I try not to wear gym clothes everywhere. Sometimes it happens, so it is nice to have a few nice looking workout outfits with workout jackets, but I do try to put on jeans or something, just because it makes me feel better.

I've found I wear a LOT of cardigan sweaters. I wear Kut from the Kloth skinnies and ankle boots or flat tall boots with camis or long sleeve t-shirts and a variety of cardigans. They hide the stomach area well and are good for all seasons. I buy other stuff, but I end up just reaching for my cardigans most days, so I've made a point to get cute ones that are high quality and don't look too momish or stretch out easily. I like some of the cardigans from Nordstrom BP or Savvy, I also really like J Crew cardigans and sometimes find cute ones on TheLoft.com.

Another staple is my bunmaker and twist pins, it's a thing you put in your hair to make a quick bun. I think it looks much cuter than a ponytail and seems more put together, but is just as easy. Scarves are another quick way to look a little more put together with little effort (and they hide random stains on your shirt that appear throughout the day carrying little ones!)

For shoes I'm either in my boots, chuck taylors or flip flops if it is summer.
  • Oh forgot to mention boyfriend jeans like ppers said. I lived in them with cute flats and tanks in the summer, then transitioned to ankle boots and cardigans in the fall. Invest in ones that fit really well though because they can go from cute boyfriend style to really sloppy looking quickly if they fit wrong or stretch out weird during the day.
  • Most days I wear skinny jeans, a sweater or long-sleeved solid color t-shirt and a pair of really comfy boots I have. In summer swap that for short sleeved t/tank top and flip flops or cute sandals. I also do a ton of sun dresses and skirts in summer. If I lose enough weight for next summer I may get some shorts as well (haven't had any since HS).

Right now I only have one pair of jeans that fits because I'm mid-weight loss and not spending money until I reach my goal weight. They're baggy "skinny" jeans at this point, but I make them work (and if they do look a little silly I'm not upset since it's because they're too big now). I do laundry most days so they're clean.

I do have some yoga pants and other workout gear that I wore a lot last year with a new baby, but I prefer to put on jeans most days now, especially since skinny jeans are so stretchy they're really comfy but look more put together. I generally work out in the morning, so I'm in work out clothes to drop my kids off at school, then after I work out I shower and put on my outfit for the day.

I basically dress how I did in HS/college as far as dressy (i.e. not quite workout clothes except to work out) but a grown up version.

I will say that when I didn't have school age kids I was a lot frumpier. But all the moms always look put together at school pick up, so I upped my game on that lol!

  • At home I wear athletic shorts or yoga pants with a tank top. Sometimes I will wear my ON sweat pants be ausr they are comfortable. When going out I wear jeans, moccasins or ballet flats, and a cardigan over a Maurice's tank top or sweater.
  • Skinny jeans with a tank or loose blouse in the summer. Skinny jeans or chinos with cardis over tanks and blouses in the winter. Dresses with tights. I pretty much wear my toms year round and this year am looking for some tall leather boots.

  • Sadly I wear a lot of Victoria's Secret pink sweats at home. However going out I wear a lot of forever 21 jeans cause they're cheap and whatever comfortable shirt I have around. I'm not very stylish, I wear super basic stuff.

Not sadly!! I have many pink sweatsuits that I wear at home too. I love them. I wear them with my uggs :). Go team SoCal style haha.
My uggs are still in hiding. I try not to wear them with my sweats, I totally judged myself while I was at Ralph's in my sweats, uggs, tank and hoodie lol

In the colder months around the house I typically wear yoga pants and a fitted top or leggings and a tunic. When we go out I wear skinny jeans, a knit top or tank with a cardigan, maybe a loose fitting knit sweater, and tall boots or booties. When it's not freezing, ballet flats.

During the warmer months, I wear a lot of flowy tops with shorts and maxi dresses. And I live in flip flops.
