Have to leave LO for a night- need advice

I have to leave my little guy next saturday for a night to go to my cousins bachelorette. It is a whole weekend event but obviously I'm not willing to leave LO for that long. I'm in the wedding so can't skip out on this plus although it will be hard, it might be nice to get away for a night and have some adult interaction. I am leaving around 3pm on the saturday and will come back around 9 or 10 in the morning. I'm wondering.. LO typically feeds every 2-3 hours and at night we get two 3-4 hour stretches and a 2-3 hour in the morning. My questions are:

1) I only recently started pumping and only have about 8.5 oz so far ( I don't ger much per session- think its my pump) how many oz would you say I need? I have tried LO on a bottle before and would supplement with formula if I absolutely have to
2) how often should I pump while I'm gone? Every 2-3 hours as if I were feeding?

Thanks in advance! I'm having a bit of anxiety thinking about leaving him

Re: Have to leave LO for a night- need advice

  • I would say it depends. I work 5-7 hours a day and LO either drinks 2 4oz bottles or 3 4oz bottles while I'm gone. I feel comfortable leaving 3 bottles. It just depends.

I would say you probably want at least 8-10 bottles. Just to be safe. Does LO sleep at night pretty good? I know mine only wakes once or twice at night to eat. If LO doesn't wake that much then you can probably do less.

Just pump what you can and freeze it so you have extra just in case. Then I would say start pumping Wednesday and store that milk in the fridge. I don't know if that makes sense.
