Gifts for Twins

We've been invited to a birthday party for twin girls who will be two years old. What's the etiquette? Two of the same gift? A single bigger gift they can share? Two different gifts that can be used together? Any suggestions? We don't really know the twins or their parents, so we're not quite sure of the way to go.

Re: Gifts for Twins

  • I think you could do either option, depending on the gift.  If it's something like a doll, riding toy, etc, definitely two of the same. If it's something like a block set, you could do two small sets that can be used together, or a large set they can share. At the twins first birthday we had people do either of the three options, I didn't mind either way.

  • Would it be a horrible idea to get them a family membership to a zoo? We have a small indoor like zoo thing in town that is awesome, and we love taking Tumaini there. However, they have two older kids, which makes four daughters under 5. I'm not sure how often they'd be willing to prepare all the girls for an outing. I can only imagine the amount of toys they must already have, with four young daughters.

I love this idea! I bet with 4 kids it can get expensive to take them to the zoo often so the membership would be great.
  • I think that kids would fight unless you got them two of the same thing.  I had an older brother and sometimes I was jealous when he got some cool toy and I got something else.

Some gifts would be okay for sharing like a dvd.  Maybe larger gifts like a doll house or toy kitchen that they could play with together would be okay...but if you don't know them well, you are probably not going to buy them something too big.
