My LO is 6 months now and bedtime is a nightmare. She also wakes at least two, maybe three times at night. Setting her down in the crib when we think she is awake results in her waking instantly (with tears) or 5-10 minutes later (also with tears). Needless to say our household is way stressed out right now.
Her pediatrician recommended the SLS book. My question is, who has tried it? Did it work? How old was your baby? Any advice or tips?
Re: The Sleep Lady Shuffle - does it work?
I didn't read SLS but I did research Ferber and read the No Cry Sleep Solution. I sort of did a combo of both. It took some time but with routine DD is now going down between 7 and 8pm and sleeping until 5 or 6 am with a rare MOTN wake up (usually because she pooped or is hungry). I put her down drowsy and she gets herself to sleep. Sometimes there's a little whining and I'll rub her back. I only pick her up if it is a pained cry. If she's just whimpering that's one of the ways she soothes herself to sleep. She also moves around a ton to find the right spot on the mattress and makes noise in the process but I just let her do her thing.
You have to do what's right for you and baby. Research all the methods and if one doesn't seem like a fit then try a combo. But be consistent like PP said - inconsistency will just lead to LO being confused and more tears. Good luck!!
