3rd Trimester

Back Pain

Does anyone have any suggestions for relieving back pain? The Dr told me to use Tylonal or if it was really sever Alieve.
I try and not take anything unless ABSOLUTLTY needed.
But there have been a few times now where the pain is as bad it is as bad as it was in labor.
Does anyone have any suggestions to help naturally relieve the pain.

Re: Back Pain

  • Yoga and heating pad. This is my 3rd pregnancy and these are the only things that have helped me.

  • Yoga, heat, prenatal massage, chiropractic care...all good things to keep your body healthy and lined up and ready to go anyway. :) good luck!

  • I went to a chiropractor for the first time...went in barely able to walk, came out a new woman.  She recommended coming 1-2 times a week to continue readjusting because our bodies tend to get out of whack more frequently.  I was feeling great 5 days after treatment so cancelled my appts and then BAM, back pain all over again.  Rescheduling.  It is def worth it and covered by my insurance so way more affordable than a massage and just as expensive as a yoga class :)
  • Thanks ladies.

  • Water aerobics can be helpful. Instead of a heating pad, I use a tube sock full of rice microwaved for a minute (I bought a brand new set of socks just for this purpose-you don't want to risk lingering smells in "clean" socks).

  • If it is your lower back, I was advised to have someone roll a tennis ball over the part that is aching. It helped alleviate the pain for me
  • Also a warm bath with some Epsom salts in it does wonders. Just make sure DH/SO is there to help you out of the tub so you don't get stuck and/or hurt your back more. :)
