We used it to wean C off the swaddle and it worked for us! The first few nights in it were worse than the swaddle but not nearly as bad as when we tried it in pjs. Just get the smallest size at first and it will shrink a bit as you wash it...that helps with the transition. C just moved up sizes and still loves hers. It is definitely safe for rolling babies...they have the freedom of movement they need to roll in it.

DS absolutely still needs it, there's no way we can do it cold turkey or do the one arm out thing since we use a woombie. How old was your baby when you used it and how long did it take? What size to get?? He's 22 lbs, 26 inches long

Yeah C was addicted to her swaddle. We weaned her around 4 months because she was getting to be a really active sleeper and trying to roll. I'm not gonna lie no matter what you do weaning from the swaddle sucks (esp if you're used to STTN), it's just a matter of finding something to soften the blow haha.
We went from the swaddle me blankets to the woombie (so she could move her arms a bit more) to the zip a dee zip. I got the small size, washed it a couple times. C was about 18 lbs at the time. Now she is about 21 lbs and 17 inches and we moved her up a size but that was more to give her some more space and make it more like pjs. I'd still get the small for the weaning process because it will feel cozier to him.
It took about a week for her to be totally back to her normal sleep habits. The first two nights were the worst, but like I said before, much better than when we had previously tried in just pjs. She still slept 2-4 hour stretches in the zip a dee zip on her first/worst nights.
My DD uses them (8 months). Like anything, it was a transition to get her into one. She crawls in hers, so it's definitely safe. If I could do it over though, I'd probably just go cold turkey onthe no swaddling. Reason being that now I'll have to eventually transition her out of the Zip.

Well, they say its normal for babies to be swaddled up to 9 months. I think they'll eventually get it but right now it's cause DS to scream for hours w/o it and that's just not fair to him
