Thursday Bedrest Check in

Thirsty Thursday

How did everyone sleep?

Milestone, Update, Appts?

Qotd: what have you learned about yourself and your spouce since being on Bedrest?

Re: Thursday Bedrest Check in

  • Thirsty Thursday, my drink of choice is Chamomile tea with lemon and honey. I've been sick since Saturday :-/

I slept ok. Since I am congested its hard to sleep. I sleep an hr here and there.

Today is my last 17p which I am and am not looking forward to it. After every shot the injection site swells and itches for 5 days. So damn painful but happy it's almost over.

I also have an appt today which I am excited about. Hoping we can discuss a birth plan. :-)

Today I will go out and buy some flats for my baby shower outfit

Qotd: I've learned that I am a very strong woman and determine. My dh has proven to me that I can depend on him for anything. He has done an absolutely amazing job caring for me. He is a man who was raised by his sisters and mom doing everything for him. Since put on Bedrest he learned to cook and care for the both of us. :-)

  • Thirsty Thursday- DH just got me a pumpkin coffee :-)

35 weeks today, and the rest of my mucous plus (which I lost a little of on Monday) seems to be coming out in gobs this morning.  Ahhhhh!!!  I was really achy in the lower pelvis last night before bed, so between that and the mucous plug this morning, I'm thinking I must be starting to dilate.  Hoping to make it to my OB appt on Monday since DH has friends from out of town here all weekend, but we will see!  Baby does NOT want to stay in there much longer!

DH has been pretty good with the bedrest- he's been doing all the cooking and cleaning and picking up whatever I need him to.  I think he's the one nesting, he was reorganizing all the kitchen cabinets last night to fit the bottles in and all that kind of stuff!  I don't ask him to do anything that's not absolutely necessary though because I feel too bad to put one more thing on him!

  • Sftbalbabe: 35wks awesome.. I have yet to lose my plug. Lol I wish I had some sign of it..
  • I'm still on the coffee kick.

    How did everyone sleep?

I was awake a lot throughout the night between crazy, crazy dreams.  I keep remembering more of them, I must have been dreaming all night.

    Milestone, Update, Appts?
Well, yesterday took quite a turn.  I lost my mucus plug so my doctor wanted me to go in for a transvaginal ultrasound because it is less on the cervix than an speculum exam. It turns out that my cervix is disappearing but the stitch is still holding.  The baby is so low his head was in my huge funnel and I could see him through the whole thing.  I have been feeling so good lately, it was frustrating.  I would like to go to one appointment and receive good news, it hasn't happened yet and there have been so many bad days.  I am still trying to get to this Monday.  Although my body seems to want the baby to come soon, I am still going to do everything to try to hold on.  27w3d today...striving for Monday.

Qotd: what have you learned about yourself and your spouce since being on Bedrest?

I have learned that I am mentally stronger than I ever thought and my husband has confirmed what a wonderful man he is.  He somehow is still working around a crazy schedule while taking care of me and my daughter.  When the grandma's are here to watch our 18 mo old he has us fed before he goes and our lunches are already made. The house is actually clean, besides the upstairs bathroom, and he has been such a rock.  Every week he buys more fresh flowers to have at my bed side.  I am a lucky girl!

  • 13 weeks 3 days, having an appointment in a couple hours to see why I'm bleeding, happened again last night and there was a clot. Still no cramping along with the bleeding which everyone says is a good thing but this is def one ultrasound I am not looking forward to :-(

My boyfriend has been so great with me being on bed rest, idk what I'd do if he wasn't around
  • I could go for some hot chocolate with whip cream!

I slept good last night got up like 3 times for the bathroom though.

Found out yesterday I failed my glucose test, barely. I did have steroids 2 weeks ago I wonder if that effected it? My dr said two weeks should be long enough that it shouldn't effect it. I wonder tho. So now I have the 3 hr next week. Ugh. I scheduled it for after my cervical US (the next day). So I can see how short it is before I sit up for 3.5 hrs in a lab. Which I am not looking forward to at all.

My hubby has been amazing through all of this. Although he still doesn't like doing laundry. My mom was over yesterday and did some. He has been awesome andhas done everything else.

    BFP #1 (7/13/12) MC (8/14) 9 weeks. D & C 8/17.
BFP #2 (5/18/13) due 1/26/14. Grow baby grow!
    Its a surprise! Team green!

  • Thirsty Thursday:  Want do I want to drink?  Some amazing red wine with some cheese and crackers!  What am I drinking?  Smartwater per my midwife.

How did everyone sleep? I sleep pretty good but get up at least 3 times each night to use the bathroom.  Last night I had such a real dream that someone was strangling me - I woke up and had a hard time falling back asleep because I could still feel the hands around my neck:(

Milestone, Update, Appts? Nada.  My stomach has been hurting but I am fairly sure it is gastro-related

Qotd: what have you learned about yourself and your spouse since being on Bedrest? My husband is wonderful and we have always split the household chores and cooking so not much has changed in that regard.  I have learned that I am not mean to be a lady of leisure and I wish I could go to work and run errands!

D & L are here at 34 weeks 4 days by vaginal and breech delivery on 11/19/2013
Two healthy boys weighing 4 lbs 15 ozs and 4 lbs 5 ozs.  Only 6 days in the NICU and getting bigger, stronger and cuter every day!
  • Good luck today @cmt13!  Hoping everything goes well.

  • Jand: sorry your having such a bad day. Monday is only 4 days away, you got this.

Cmk: what time is your appt? I hated waiting for my ultrasounds when I was anxious.. :-/

Roses: I will no be induced :-/

Appt update: cerclage removal has been pushed to Monday although she doesn't think I would give birth on Saturday if I would have removed it today.. I will not be induced unless I reach 41wks.. Oh well, it's going to be a long few wks
  • I had the worse time sleeping...it wasnt even the nurses fault....i think it was the steroids. I had to take an ambien and BOY did it do the trick! Baby doesnt like to be monitor on my left side nor on my right side..he likes to be monitors while im on my back...and ive never slept on my back. Im not use to that cause last time i was inpatient they didnt have to keep track of his hr. Milestones:i got thru my mag bolus fine, i heard such horror stories about it. While being on bedrest i learned alot about myself...i can be controlling i want things my way, i figured that if i planned it then it works out for the best. I wanted to get pregnant at a certain time, imwanted to work up to am certain time...and now all of that is thrown out the window...and im okay with that...also love my job and love to work....my husband adores me and will do anything for me when things are tough. He cleans on the regular but i know he wont do the laundry unless necessary...i also know that hes pretty much a now in this moment. we had gotten in an argument earlier about me not going back to work (he thought i was being dramatic), i got on him because our baby room still needs fixing of things. he thinks we have plenty of time. But then it takes moments like this for him to realized that its happening sooner than he thinks
  • @Kneenah-Yay for the last shot!  And I'm glad you were able to push back cerclage removal.  And your shower is this weekend?  Exciting!
    sftbalbabe-35 weeks is wonderful!
@JandM-You can make it to Monday, thinking good thoughts for you!  Also, my baby's foot keeps going in and out of my funneling, definitely nerve wracking, but hopefully the cervix can hold on!
@CMK-I hope they can get to the underlying issue of this bleeding.  Good luck and keep us posted.
@Roses-Good luck with the glucose, it is no fun, but hopefully will yield good results!
@Pink-Hope your stomach feels better, BR is not good for the GI tract ;-)
@Bossy-Happy you got through the Mag :-)

I'm craving coffee too.  Hoping it will help move things along in the intestines ;-)  Nothing new to report here.  Getting bigger and more uncomfortable.  My muscles and RLP are  impacting every sleeping and sitting position. Hoping my body will adjust soon.

QOTD: I never thought I could tolerate bed rest, let alone, hospital bed rest, but I've been able to do it without going too crazy.  Keeping in mind this is what is keeping my daughter alive and inside is the only driving force for me.  My husband has been amazing.  He's been doing the single dad thing for our boys and both have remained happy and well adjusted.  I am so grateful to him for that.  He also comes to see me every single day and brings me whatever I need.  I always knew I was lucky, but he really stepped up his game! ;-)
  • Thirsty Thursday - I could go for a regular margarita on the rocks with a salted rim. Yumm! But I guess I will settle for my banana and pomagranite smoothy I just had; that was quite tasty.

I slept pretty well last night. DH is gone on a business trip for a couple of days so my friend who is an RN has been staying with me to help with my daughter and I guess to help me. It is actually really nice having someone new in the house. Last night we stayed up talking until 11pm. I can't remember the last time I saw 11pm, lol.

My dh has been amazing since I went on bed rest. Sometimes he is annoying because if he sees me up more than a couple times in the day he'll holler at me that I am doing too much. Little does he know I am going crazy. But it is cute. He has had outstanding patience with our 3 year old and has really not complained once about having to do EVERYTHING. Which is probably more than I could say for myself if the roles were reversed. I am blessed.

It is so nice to hear how wonderful everyone's dh's have been through this.

  • Thank you @kneenah1231 and @morgandegan.
@morgandegan, it is pretty nerve-wracking!  Has the doctor given you any specific instruction because of this?  The only thing my doctor said is to lay with hips and feel elevated.

  • Thank you everyone. Well had my appointment this morning, I couldn't even look at the ultrasound screen then the tech said there's the baby and baby looks good! Strong heartbeat, jumping all around in there and being camera shy :-) Doctor told me the placenta is still low, it's right by the opening if the cervix so I have placenta previa and I am on bed rest for the next 2-4 weeks. He said its moving but as its doing that its causing the bleeding. He's hoping that with little activity and as the uterus grows the placenta will get where it needs to be and eventually the bleeding will stop. I am being monitored and have an ultrasound every Monday for the next 4 weeks
  • CMK13- so glad things checked out ok!

kneenah- glad you were able to push back that cerclage removal so you can enjoy your shower without worrying so much.  Hang in there otherwise- hopefully you won't need to worry about week 41!  I hope none of us have to wait until week 41!

I forgot to answer earlier in terms of what I've learned about myself on bedrest... I think I've learned that I need to appreciate the little things more when I'm NOT on bedrest!  I never before thought about how nice it is to be able to just run out and get a coffee or snack or go shopping or pick up my own pads from the store!  I will appreciate all those things a lot more after this is over- of course then I'll be lucky to get a break from being a mommy to do those things, but at least I'll be able to do them and enjoy them once in a while!

  • Cmk: I told you woot woot. I should be a dr lol.. That exact same thing happen to me with my last pregnancy at the same amount of wks. Mine eventually moved up and away from my cervix.. I am sure by your anatomy scan your will be up and away too..
  • How long did it take for yours to move?

@JandM-My doctor didn't say much one way or the other.  I wanted her to flip, but after hearing your story, I don't know if I'd prefer feet or head in my funneling :-/  Neither seems like a good option.  Are you on any meds to prevent PTL?  My MFM believes when labor decides to start, there's very little we can do to stop it (true labor).  So right now we are trying to control contractions so they don't change the cervix.  I'm on Procardia for contractions as well as Indocin, and the combination are keeping me pretty stable.  It's such a frustrating journey, isn't it?
  • @CMK-Happy your placenta is migrating ;-)  Hopefully it will happen for you sooner rather than later!

I am not on anything at the moment.  I have been fortunate to not have any contractions so my doctor hasn't had me take anything.  There was a girl on another board that was in our position with a large funnel and her cervix kept shortening consistently.  She made it to 28 weeks and for the first time her cervical length went up.  I am hoping for a miracle like this! It's very mentally tough being in our position!  I keep reading success stories over and over again to kind of give myself a mental boost.  When I go on normal boards sometimes I get a little resentful because other pregnant womens' biggest concern during pregnancy are getting stretch marks or gaining too much weight...I think we would kill to have that be our biggest concern haha

  • Thirsty Thursday!  Craved a pumpkin spice cappucino today and got one.  :)

Didn't sleep well last night.  I've given up on expecting a good nights sleep.

33w1d today.  Had my prenatal appointment today.  BP was good but had a +1 protein in my urine.  Doctor said we'll just keep an eye on it.  Worried because I've heard Procardia can mask Pre-e.

Qotd:  I've learned that I like to have all the control when it comes to cooking/household chores and that DH absolutely does not think it's important to keep a tidy house or to cook 3 meals a day.  It has been challenging for sure.

  • CMK: mine happen at 13wks and by 18wks it was away from cervix...
  • That's the time frame my dr gave me. I'll be 17 weeks at the last of my weekly appointments so I'm keeping my fingers crossed
