Tea tree oil and coconut oil

Has anyone used these items for diaper rash? How did you use them and did they work? Thanks!

Re: Tea tree oil and coconut oil

  • I avoid using tea tree oil on my kids because I've read that it cause an estrogen imbalance.  But I use coconut oil all the time.  You can just slather the pure coconut oil directly on the rash (it has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties) or you can make a lotion out of it with other ingredients.  I make lotion bars out of shea butter, oil and beeswax.  Use equal parts of shea butter and oil (you can use pure coconut or a mix of coconut, olive, almond, jojoba, etc.) and 1/2 part of beeswax.  For example - 1 cup shea butter, 1 cup oil, and 1/2 cup beeswax.  Just melt it all down in a double broiler and then pour it into a form.  When you're done you have a lotion bar that works wonders on diaper rashes and baby eczema.  It's a staple around here in the winter!

  • Love coconut oil! I use to to grease my baby up after bath time. Her skin is really sensitive and she has a little bit of eczema and this stuff works wonders.
