It seems like our little board has been pretty somber lately. I thought it would be nice to take a minute and talk about what we are thankful for in lives.
I am so incredibly thankful that I have amazing IF coverage.
I am so thankful that my toddler is happily potty training this week.
I am so thankful for
@freakyfast :P The girl makes me laugh, and I appreciate that.
I am really thankful for this board! It's so great that we're all here to support each other and there's no drama on our little board. I just love it.
I am so thankful my RE is 3mins away. Gotta love 7am baselines, right?
I feel better already. IF is so overwhelming, I think sometimes we need to really force ourselves to sit down and be positive once in a while!

Re: Thankful Thursday anyone?
Yes yes yes!!
& I second the one about @freakyfast , Love that girl! & the one about this board, you all are wonderful!!
I am thankful for my husband, I don't think I could make it a single day without his love and support.
I am thankful for my DD, No matter what life brings my way, She will always be my happy ending
I'm also thankful for my close-to- perfect husband. Unfortunately, he ends up being my punching bag and my shoulder to cry on way too often and he just takes it all in stride. Also, he's the best dad ever.
Lastly, I am thankful for my new job that I start in Nov. and my profession in general. Working as a social worker can be rough, but I can't imagine ever doing a job that I just showed up to every day for the paycheck. I love knowing that I'm making a difference in children's lives.

Although, everything in due time. I am not hung up on what people "think" he's supposed to be doing or not doing - ya know?

@KC1212, you'll be really unimpressed with what we did as our potty training method. Basically we just got really lucky in how DS responded to our tactics.
Frequently in the evenings and on the weekends we would just allow him to be naked from the waist down so he could connect the dots between the sensation and what actually happens. He would always stop after he started peeing to say "uh oh" and we would put him on his little potty to finish the job. We did hit a period of time where he was adverse to the potty too and would get upset, so we got him an elmo potty that talked which proved to be more appealing than his basic baby bjorn potty. He also really didn't like there being poop or pee in his potty, so we implemented a "let's act like complete idiots and do a happy dance and cheer for him every time" which entertained him and made him excited that there was poop or pee in his potty. Where we really lucked out is pretty quickly he started telling us when he had to go and would even sit on his own and go when we weren't right there beside him. We did nothing to make this happen; he just did it on his own, which makes things super easy for me and DH.
He naked trained within days pretty much all on his own, and would still go in his diaper any time he was wearing one. So after a few weeks, I decided to see what would happen if I put loose fitting pants on him with no diaper underneath one weekend, and that is when things took a very serious turn. He peed himself twice, pooped himself once, and that was it. He started telling us when he had to go because peeing and pooping himself was pretty upsetting I think. When we left the house that weekend and went out to eat with him in a diaper (and I fully expected him to use the diaper since it fits a lot different than his loose fitting pants), he told me at the restaurant that he had to pee pee. So while I was thinking we were casually potty training, he was apparently all in, so we went and bought him some underwear. He didn't use the potty at day care until I decided to send him in underwear a couple of weeks ago instead of his cloth pull ups. So yeah, not really any secrets. We just got lucky. And I'm pretty sure when we have a second kid (resisting the urge to change that "when" to an "if"), we will be probably be fighting him/her at the age of 5 to potty train.
I think your son sounds fine! 21 months is still really young! My DS doesn't use a paci but he does suck his knuckle, and it's in his mouth constantly, so I'm pretty sure he won't be giving it up for a very long time. DS fought bottles from the very first day I returned to work from maternity leave, so we gave up on those long before 12 months but I still let him nurse himself to sleep (shhh....I'm in the breastfeeding closet). So it sounds like our little men are pretty similar. And if people want to judge us, bring it on, Judgey Mcjudgersons!
PS. I tried about 10 times to say "Judgey McJudgersons" aloud and said McJuggersons each time. Gutter-brain!
