Test Results

The IF nurse called me with our results.  All my blood work looked great.  DH SA showed normal counts, but low motility.  They are recommending he go to a urologist to make sure there are no physical issues causing it.  Dr. Google is overwhelming me.  The IF nurse told me in the land of IF this is not a bad card to be handed, but I'm not sure DH feels that way.  :(

It's always a good thing to get an actual answer, trust me. Answers mean they can find more direct treatment for you and your H. So, look on the bright side! There are tons of pretty easy treatment methods to help with mens sperm issues. Is he taking a multivitamin? That's always a good start.

I held my breath when I read your title until I got through what you wrote.  (Sorry my own panic) They give you a % of motility? It really could mean nothing.

Sorry for the panic attack!  No %, but I plan on asking when she calls back to schedule his urologist appt.

DH has taken a huge blow to his ego with this.  I feel horrible for him.  :(

He takes a MV every day, but I may look into switching it to FertilAid or something similar.  The nurse assured me things could be much worse and that between their office and the ART clinic about 2 hours north, they have great results with MFI patients.

My DH has both count and motility issues, I could give you numbers if you like and we conceived naturally. I agree with nurse - at least his count is high- that's a start. You might just need an IUI- put those swimmers right where they need to be and help em out. Also this is important-

    Those numbers CHANGE :)

Is it just me or is anyone else amazed by the count of sperm.  Blows my mind every time I see that number.  :-?

KC1212 is right those numbers do change.  I think a little lovey dovey or bow chicka bow wow will help his ego.  ;)

I did try and make him feel better by telling him his count is almost 3x what is normal.  Dr. Google tells me that overall, things aren't terrible.

And yes, I'm sure there will be ego building later.

My DH doesn't even want to do the SA! I don't really want him to have to either :( I know it's necessary to rule out that problem, but he never had a problem getting me pregnant multiple times just 3 years ago, and he's younger & healthier than me so I have a hard time believing it could be him. I don't know why but I would rather go through a million tests than him have to ejaculate in a cup. That just seems so emasculating! I can see why your DH is feeling down :( Good luck cheering him up!

I'm glad you have some answers but I'm sorry your DH is feeling down.  Hopefully they can get him on the way to improved motility pretty quickly.  I don't know much about SA business but it sounds like there are some treatment options for him.
