June 2013 Moms

Just thought I would share.

I decided to take the train with my lo today to the mall. My husband was getting out of work early and could drive us all home. There is no elevator to get to the platform by my house. I decided to wear the baby in my ergo and then I could carry the carriage up step by step.

It wasn't rush hour and there was about 10 minutes until the next train. I would say there are roughly 30 stairs and semi steep. I tell you all this because 3 grown men watched me and walked right past me. I realize it's not their job to get me up the stairs but really?! Anyway then a high school aged boy walked up and said can I give you a hand? He was so sweet and the moral of this story is I hope I raise my son to help people where needed. I hope that boys mom knows what a good job she did :)

  • That is so nice!

I feel like this generation gets a little bit of a bad rep.  I work in an inner city high school (not in the classroom- so 90% of these kids don't even know me) and regularly I have students, mostly boys, holding the door for me, offering to help if I am carrying something and just generally being helpful and thoughtful.

  • This made me so happy to read. Bravo on trying those steps on your own!  I haven't tried the subway stairs + stroller without my husband yet, I really need to bite the bullet and do it but I'm such a klutz!
  • Bunnylove416. My advice is go off peak hours and not too far the first time. I use to live in jersey city and work in midtown. I think NYC subway is much harder than the trains in Sydney. You are in NYC,right? What are the laws regarding cabs and babies?
