Cold sleeping weather!

Now that it is getting cold (at least in MN!) what are you dressing LO in for sleep? Is anybody using blankets in the crib? Our house just feels so cold, and I worry that LO is freezing! He's in a sleep n/ play with one of those sleep sack thingies over him... kinda like a wearable blanket but thin cotton.

What are you guys doing?

Re: Cold sleeping weather!

  • I am still contemplating on using an actual blanket (I use a A+A blanket on him). I know he is at the minimum age, but still worries me. Right now it is 33 degrees outside and about 60 in the room. I have him in a micro fleece sleeper with feet. I felt his hands and they are still warm, if his face and hands get too cold I will bring him in bed with me and cover him half way. If it starts getting really cold I might put him in a onesie then in a sleeper. I am also buying some sleeping booties, hopefully they won't cut circulation like socks do.

  • DD is in a sleep and play and a sleep sack. I'm cold tonight though, so I hope she's warm enough. I think I'm going to buy a fleece sleep sack and see how she does with it.

  • Leif is in those fleece pajamas that are a sack at the bottom most nights. DH keeps the heat up so it's about 70-72 in DS's room which makes our room too hot, but oh well.

  • Maybe I'll get a fleece sleep n play for night time -- I always look at them andthink they just look so HOT but for night time maybe that is a good idea. Or a fleece sleep sack.  The therm is set to 70 but we have high ceilings and lots of windows and I'M freezing so I feel like he must be chilly!

  • We just bought a few of the fleece pajama sacks from Carter's. They work pretty well. I also have sleep sacks and bundle me blankets for when it's a little colder. LO's room is usually between 68-71 for now.

  • Arianna wears a onesie under footie pjs, and in a halo sleep sack. The house is set to 68 at night, but her room always feels colder due to terrible old windows, which make up the entire outside wall.
  • We put little guy in a onesie with fleece footies over it.  We've also put a space heater in his room which is temperature controlled.  We have it set to 70 so once it gets up to that temp in his room it shuts off (we don't want to overheat him while trying to prevent him from getting cold!).  We also put up blackout curtains which have really cut down on the draft from the windows.

  • DS is still in a Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit with just a diaper underneath. We keep the thermostat at 68-69 but his room tends to be a little cooler than that. Once he outgrows the suit, we will do a fleece footie PJ with a Halo wearable blanket over it.

  • How do you all keep the hands warm?  No matter how warmly I dress my LO (long sleeve onesie, footie pjs and fleece sleep sack), her little hands are cold by morning time and I feel so bad.  When I change her diaper, the rest of her is nice and warm and cozy just her hands are like ice.

I think this is sort of inevitable. I don't worry about it as long as the rest of him is warm.

Also, I use a crocheted blanket in the crib. Moty, but it helps him sleep and keeps him warm... Also, it's loosely woven and full of holes. Fwiw, it's never been over his face when he is asleep.

  • Fleece footy pjs and a fleece halo sleep sack. We keep the heat at 68, but his room feels cooler since it has 2 out side walls. Their hands will always be cold for the most l art, but as long as theor core is warm it is fine.
  • Footed sleeper and sleep sack. Oh and space heater in her room.

  • Fleece footy pajamas and we keep it pretty warm in his room. Thankfully we can control the heat in different parts of the house. I have been worried that he might be getting cold at night, but it doesn't seem to wake him up. Tried a sleep sack and he hated everything about it.
  • thanks ladies, last night I bought some fleece footies, which we'll use tonight now that they are laundered!

    Same...
I'm a little worried when the temps actually start to drop so we will see.

The heat is on, the house MIL lives in is inefficient.
