1st Trimester

5 1/2 weeks and no symptoms?

Is this normal?   This is my fourth, my youngest will be five in a couple months. I was always under the care of an RE for the first trimester so I always knew I was pregnant pretty early on, I could have sworn I'd feel something by now.

Re: 5 1/2 weeks and no symptoms?

  • With my pregnancy i didn't feel symptoms until about 6-7 weeks...I really wanted to feel something, and then once I did, I wanted to go back to feeling good! Enjoy it while you can!

  • My symptoms have been so mild that honestly, if I didn't miss my period I would think I was just fighting a virus off: tired, a little constipated, mild stomach pain.

My doc said that's perfectly normal, if somewhat uncommon. Not every pregnant woman is vomiting every day, etc. And not every pregnancy will feel the same for the same woman.

Follow up with your doc, of course, to make sure everything looks good. But if the only cause for concern is not feeling "more" pregnant, I wouldn't sweat it. Plus, if you conceived with assistance before, I'd think that might explain why your body was going through slightly different changes with those pregnancies.

  • I'm at six weeks and have VERY mild symptoms.  Just went in for an ultrasound because I was with an RE and the baby looks great and we got to see the heartbeat today :)  So, I'm enjoying my symptoms free first trimester, and you should too!!

  • Yep, it's completely normal!  This is my 2nd and I had 0 symptoms until last week, but I am symptom free again.
  • I have only had some wicked heartburn so far...and I will be happy with that for now.  I understand wanting to feel more to be reassured, but I had a MMC in the past, and I still felt my symptoms, so I no longer trust that feeling.  I will just go along my journey and be happy with whatever I get handed. :)

    Best of luck...

  • Thanks so much for the reassurance. I had blood drawn last week and the numbers looked good, it's just the first pregnancy I've had they I didn't have regular beta's done.
  • I didn't have anything noticeable until closer to 7 weeks. Even then my m/s wasn't terrible. I only threw up once at 9 weeks and that was my own fault (I ate too much then lay down).
