Anyone here because of a bad NT scan?

I just had my NT scan at 12 weeks. Unfortunately it shown the baby had a thick neck fold of 5.5mm. I was encouraged to get CVS testing.  I am obviously devastated and fearing the worst.  They said there is a 50% chance of cchromosomal abnormality or hear problems..  Has anyone had this experience before and what was the outcome?

    I didnt have the normal first tri screening with my last one. I had the MaterniT21 test at 12ish weeks which came back positive for Down Syndrome. My little guy was born March 8 2013 and he does have Down Syndrome. If this test is an option for you Id do the test first since it tests fetal dna in the mothers blood so it is a simple blood draw. Also the test is very accurate.

    I had an abnormal U/S reading with my second son.  They suspected a heart defect of some sort. They made me wait until 20 weeks to have an fetal EKG and everything turned out to be fine.  But those 8 weeks were hell.  If they are thinking a chromosomal issue, I also had MaterniT21 with my most recent, and that is less invasive than a CVS and very accurate.  Best of luck to you!

    Hi! Sorry you're going through this. I had a NT reading of 4.0 exactly a year ago and was told I had an 30% chance of having a genetic abnormally or heart defect. I did opt for the CVS and 2 days later, I found out baby girl was negative for the 3 major abnormalities (T13,T18 and T21) as well as negative for Turners. The microarray came back 2 weeks later normal. I had a normal anatomy scan at 19 weeks and a fetal echocardiogram at 23 weeks to rule out a cardiac defect. It is such a stressful couple of months but there is such an amazingly high rate of false positives from NT measurements! I'll be keeping your family in my thoughts! Genetics was convinced there was some issue but after every test possible, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl in May!

    Thank you for asking. Just had an abnormal NT scan and waiting on the results for the Harmony test. There are no other indicators, so we're waiting to see what the other options are. Good luck!
