That's what we did with our kids. None of the rest have issues with dairy, but I was too worried about sippy cups getting mixed up, so we skipped it. Oddly enough, I tried to get my non-allergic kids to drink a cup of WCM when they were older (2 or older) and they thought it was horrible and wanted nothing to do with it. They still won't touch the stuff. I let them have cheese every now and then, and they'll eat that, but they won't touch the milk.
People tried to tell us we were harming the kids by not letting them drink milk.
My kid's allergist told me there was no way my kid could be getting enough of his vitamins and minerals with all of his allergies and he was especially concerned about calcium. I tried telling him over and over again that he eats a ton of leafy greens and other calcium-rich veggies, but the doc wouldn't listen. He referred me to a nutritionist and when she did his analysis on his food journal she said he actually got more than the RDA even without the dairy products. We switched allergists after that whole debate.
Do you mind sharing your brand of vitamin? I could only find one around here without dairy that I felt comfortable giving DS, but we had to stop it with the GAPS diet because it wasn't legal. I can't find any that work for him. Maybe yours would.
Those would be perfect if it weren't for the sucrose. He can't have any form of sugar except for honey. But those vitamins look like a great option otherwise and my kids would love that they are gummies. I'll have to keep them in mind for when we finish the diet!! Thanks!
P.S. I'm so over this diet. It's going to be a long two years!
Can I just jump in and ask what you give if you don't do WCM? I'm curious because I don't drink milk myself (I find it repulsive) and wanted to avoid it with DD. It's not that she's shown any allergy; it's more that I feel like there's too much "junk" in commercial milk and I have yet to find a local source. What did you find to be an acceptable substitute? I've personally used a variety of milk substitutes, but I wasn't sure if there was one that was preferable for a child. I know I don't drink it for a protein or fat content, but I feel like that's why WCM is pushed on children.
For a long time we did hemp milk for DS. I did an analysis of all of the milk alternatives here and found that it was the best in terms of fat and protein content. But then after a while I got uncomfortable with some of the preservatives in the milk alternatives. DD1 has never had any milk alternative. I BF her until she was about 18 months and then when she weaned she started drinking water and very diluted 100% fruit juice. I try to get fat and protein from their foods - all my kids eat 2-3 pastured eggs every morning and a healthy portion of meat for dinner. We eat lots of homemade nut butters and coconut oil. I feel like those are more nutrient-dense sources of protein and fat anyways.
I should add that I don't drink milk either, but I do make some of our milk products from raw milk. Drinking milk isn't good for my Crohn's, but I make my own yogurt, butter, and whey from the raw milk and my two middle children have it sometimes in a smoothie.
ETA - for DS1 I sometimes make my own almond milk too. Here is how I do it.

Pureed spinach hidden in everything does wonders
