I am so pissed off right now I don't even know where to start.
Background-I relieved two moby wraps for my baby shower. We are keeping one and (I thought) returning the other. We do not have a target around us, closest one is 45 mins away, so I never shop there and I have no idea how their return policy works. I called this morning before I went to see if they could take a return without a receipt and a bar code because we threw the packaging away on accident I know, stupid me. Anyways, she said yes as long as they have one in stock and I have my drivers license on me then we can return it and get store credit, no problem. I ask if they have one in stock and for her to go check because I was 45 mins away and I would be really annoyed if I drove there for nothing. I tell her that there are multiple things that need to be returned but we have a receipt for all of them and ask if I need to bring anything else. She says nope, puts me on hold, comes back and says they have the moby in stock, so off I waddle to make a trip to target!
Well as I get to the counter and hand the lady all of the items (there were multiple and the moby cost $50. All together the items added up to over $100) she asks me where the bar code is and I explain the issue. She rolls her eyes, speaks to me with a rude tone and was of no help what so ever. She walkies back to an associate to check and see if they have one in stock that they can bring up and he said NO!
WHAT THE HELL!? I just called and asked about an hour ago to avoid this whole issue and it still happens. So I returned all of my other stuff and asked where I could return the moby because we were planning on using that money from the gift card to get a crib mattress, which is out LAST thing to buy. She tells me that the closest store is 30 mins away and I would have to go over there to get it. I sighed and gave her the look of death and she finally says that she will call over there to see if they actually have it in stock. They do, so off to another store, in the opposite direction of my house I might add, to return this damn moby.
I show up at the other store and explain the situation again. The lady makes me waddle back to get the moby and bring it back up, she scans it and then scans my ID and tells me that there is a $70 limit to what you can return in a year! Basically I have to wait until January to return it. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! Why was I not told this at the first store when I made all of those returns? Why did they not tell me that when I called the first time?
I never got to return the moby. I walked out of there with a soda and Reeces and I will never shop there again. I got the name of the lady that helped me and since she was super rude and failed to give me the right information, corporate will be getting a phone call.
Anyone else have a store that they are fed up with and will never shop there again?
Re: Target- Heads up if you don't know the return policy.
Edited:: also, I'd like to add, (at least for babies r us) if you received items that you know we're purchased there and don't want to stress over saving and organizing the receipts, you can just add them to your registry and mark that they have already been received. Your registry will hold up as the receipt, and you can return them whenever. I don't know if they will still accept items without the packaging, but it might be worth the phone call? If they will, just add the wrap and mark it relieved and return it there.
Also, it must depend in the market or the particular store because BRU here has been a nightmare. I have no desire to ever go there again and was so happy when I used my last gift card. Returning there was a total hassle and I got almost no money for the items.
Per year rule wouldn't matter.
Yes! I'm glad you posted, because I recently had a similar experience with Target. I received a Diaper Genie, then decided I didn't want to pay extra for the bags. When I received the gift the person who gave it to me also handed me the gift receipt. Easy right? No!
When, I went to Target they said they did not carry that item in their store. And, that I would have to drive to a Super Target in order to get the full refund. How the hell am I supposed to know this? They then said the best they could do is give me a gift car for $2.40. WTF? I can't remember their reasoning for this because I just saw red.
Finally, they punched in something in the computer and gave me a gift card for the full value of the diaper pail. Though, I was happy I received something, I thought the "run-around" was ridiculous and expect so much more from Target.
Then she said, yeah, we sell these (pointed to them, 15 feet away) and they are on sale now. I said, well that's fine, I don't mind a reduced store credit since they are on sale now. She was like, no, I can't take them.
WTF?
I will admit, I am totally guilty of adding things to my Target registry just to return it shortly after for store credit. They accept my return every single time. I just go in and print off my registry purchase log and they don't say anything else about it.
My rant goes to Walmart. I went in looking for a cheaper robe for my hospital bag and they didn't have any!!! It's like some jerk bought all of the robes....there was nothing in the robe section. I was very disappointed.
I called my aunt (she purchased it) to let her know and she told me that they took the money out her account so the balance should have been $100. She felt so bad and I felt awful I even said anything but she told me she would have been mad if I hadn't. Now she is on a mission to get it right with corporate but I don't know what they will be able to do.
