Early today! Lets see 'em!

QOTD: how do you split holidays in your family? Does it go smoothly or do and YH argue about it every.single.year?

Here's E at the pumpkin patch this weekend! Fun times! Sorry it's sideways, I'm terrible at this.

I guess I would put us in the fight every year category. The plan is to do thanksgiving with his family an grist mad with my family this year, and alternate every year. But my brother and MH's sister are out of state and they keep throwing a wrench in things. Then we end up being the bad guy by missing out of state guests or not showing up to the scheduled holiday for that family/that year. It's a cluster and we always lose.

QOTW: Splitting Christmas actually works out well for us. Christmas Eve is big with DH's family and Christmas day is bigger with mine. My parents are out of state so we open our gifts at home really early and then make our way to my parents...in our pjs For Thanksgiving and Easter, we switch back and forth. That gets annoying but hopefully one day, I would be able to host Thanksgiving. For now, we suck it up.

Here is DS at the pumpkin patch this past weekend. He pretty much ran around shrieking and rubbing all the pumpkins

QOTW: When it comes to holidays like Thanksgiving and Easter we kinda do a first come first serve type basis. But DH's family generally does stuff on Sunday's cuz that's when DH's brothers are free from work. So I generally try to have my family due stuff on Saturday. And with my extended family we rarely do stuff on the actual week of the holiday. We generally wait until the week after when everybody else has more availability.

But when it comes to Christmas we rotate each year who gets us on Christmas day, we go to the other side for Boxing day. Me and DH don't argue about it, but sometimes my MIL gets bend out of shape cuz she's bad at arranging things in a timely manner lol

QOTD: how do you split holidays in your family? Does it go smoothly or do and YH argue about it every.single.year? We always do the holidays and invite all the grandparents. Every other year we have everyone together. Saves the stress in deciding where to go each year.

Eh it's always a pain in the @ss. If I did turkey day with DH parent's last year we do it with mine this year. The nice thing about my parents they always include his. And this christmas was are going to throw for both sides of the family to basically kill two birds with one stone. It's only an argument when it comes to DH family about every single holiday, get together and call. They suck

I'm early with this picture, but I can't help it. It is probably my favorite picture of LO to date. We had a Halloween party this past weekend, I didn't really want to go but it ended up being a great time!

QOTW:

We fight EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR and it's so ugly that it deserves caps. Typically the idea is to do Thanksgiving with my family (mom and sisters), Christmas Eve with my dad and Christmas Day with DH's family. Looks easy right? Everybody wins. Yeah, never goes that way. My mom always guilts us into breakfast with them on Christmas morning and we end up making way too many stops, and DH gets mad b/c we're with my family so much - and while that's a legit argument, it's unfortunately how it goes with divorced parents. This year I am extra salty because we always host Thanksgiving and my mom took it away this year since her SIL is coming into town. Holidays (and pretty much any meal) at my moms suck And seriously, it would be 7 million times easier to be at home rather than dragging LO and all of her stuff over to my moms..... but no one in my family ever thinks about us in that sense. Ugh. Yup, dreading this a month in advance

QOTW: no fights, generally speaking. My family is from a different culture so we never "do" T'giving or X'mas. As a result, we spend both holidays with my ILs. OTOH, at some point, I'd love to not do BOTH with them, every.single.year. I'd love to just go away on vacation as a family.

Oh, the holidays! We don't fight about it. Luckily we are on the same page

we both have a sense a dread going to his parents because of the inevitable family drama. We usually go to my aunt and uncle's for Thanksgiving with my dad. (It's my mom's brother. Mom passed away and my parents were divorced but got along great! The last year we were all together my dad, mom, and my mom's boyfriend drive out together, lol!) we have been doing Christmas Eve at my day's and Christmas Day with my IL's.

I am sharing two today

The first is G with the pumpkins on our Oak Glen trip and the second is his school picture. I was so happy they included the infant class in the photos AND they got him to smile. Made my day!!

QOTW: Thankfully both of our parents live 5 minutes apart so we can usually go to both houses. Some years we would switch off Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since we moved into our new house this year and we have Grayson, we decided that we will celebrate Christmas at our house and both families can come to us. For Thanksgiving, my Mom has offered to host. I don't know if my IL's will join or if we will visit them afterwards.

@mdiblasi10 - I love both your pics. I am also jealous! My daycare took LO's pic - but she didn't smile in ANY of them, which is crazy b/c she ALWAYS smiles and it's sad bc they looked awesome otherwise.

I have two today ... the first is of the kids right before we went to Boo at the Zoo, and the second one is of my daughter washing my son. It is so cute how she 'mothers' him

QOTW: We don't argue about splitting time up, but my family lives about 2 hours away and it is a total pain traveling with the kids and trying to hit up 3 different places for Christmas Eve, then drive all the way back home and hit another 2 more with my husbands' family. This year we are staying home! No way am I packing up a couple of week old baby and 2 other kids and hauling them all around in the freezing cold weather. If people want to see us, they can come to us

H sitting last night for the longest time on his own! He's got a tight hip so this sitting thing has been a bit tricky.

QOTW: my family does Christmas Eve night and DH's does Christmas Day, although MIL had no choice because one of my SILs does Christmas Eve with her family too. I told DH starting next year, we will be at our house Christmas Eve night so Santa comes to our house and not some random place we end up and he agrees. MIL won't like it but she can stuff it as far as I'm concerned.

QOTW: My parents are divorced so we alternate DHs family and my dads family for thanksgiving day and then spend thanksgiving evening with my mom. Christmas Eve is with my dad and his side of the family and Christmas Day is usually spent with my mom and her side. Luckily for me, DH isn't real close with his family so he doesn't care much if he spends holidays with them or not, plus it's always at his grandparents and they live two hours away. My family is all local. The only "fight" we have is because the holidays have so much family time and DH is a total homebody and prefers to be home.

Me: Christmas Eve, Easter

DH: Christmas Day, Thanksgiving

Whichever divorced parent we visit rotates but it's the spouse whose holiday it is decision. We don't host (or have any desire to) so this works for us. We do make the Christmas lasagna though.
