Re: CPW: Exercise

  • Just found a yoga studio in the building next to mine (I work downtown Chicago) and I'm pumped. I'm out of the house from 6am until 6pm everyday and week day workouts are nearly impossible to squeeze in.

  • I just finished training and ran a half marathon over the weekend. I'm excited to get back into classes at my gym but they offer a lot of the same classes every night so the selection isn't great. I started spin classes and LOVE those!
  • @ukwife11 - Congratulations!! I just ran my first half last month. It didn't go as well as I had hoped due to an injury and a cold right before the race, but I did it. How did yours go? Also, I love spinning too! And Body Pump.

  • I exercise 4 times a week. I'm working up to 5 days and I want to do 6 days, but my husband insists I have two resting days.

  • @RedTwizzlers thanks and congrats on your first half too!! It went better than I thought. All last week my shin was killing me so I was freaking out the night before. My pace was slower than I originally hoped but I finished so I was proud of that! I kind of have the racing itch now and I'm already thinking about running another (not anytime soon though). Did you follow a training plan for yours? Any plans to run another? I've never heard of Body Pump but it sounds fun! What kind of exercise or workout is it?
  • SS-I chose this because I *want* to be exercising and I keep telling myself I'll start insanity back up soooo yeah.  The *want* just hasn't become important enough to stop making excuses really....

@ukwife11 - I followed Hal Higdon novice 1. I am signed up for a half in may! Body pump is a group strength training class. It also gives you a bit of a cardio workout. I love it and highly recommend it!

That's so awesome you signed up for another half!! When I finished Saturday I knew I wanted to do another. I'm going to enjoy recreational running for the time being then figure out which race I want to train for :)

I wish my gym had that exercise class. That sounds like a great class!
  • I chose the first option, but my job requires me to walk around preschools carrying a laptop all day so I do get a good leg and arm workout pretty much on a daily basis :)

  • I chose SS not really sure if that's the right answer or not. I don't work out on a treadmill or go to a gym but my job is really physical so I get my workouts there. I probably walk 10,000 steps a day and I also go up and down ladders, change over departments, carry out items for customers etc...
I used to do yoga. If I was to get into a workout routine id probably do yoga once or twice a week.
