Symptoms Suddenly Gone - with follow-up!

Hi All,
I've been visiting/lurking this board for a while now (I'm 11 weeks) because I have had lots of questions and concerns about my pregnancy (I have had 1 previous miscarriage at 5 weeks, I found I was pregnant when I miscarried). I wanted to share my story of my disappearing pregnancy symptoms because it seems like a common concern on the board, but with very little follow-up details from other women. Reading that lots of women go through this is very reassuring, but after reading so many "I had that too", I got really curious if everything turned out okay for those moms-to-be whose symptoms suddenly vanish.

So my story: On Sunday I woke feeling basically great. No nausea (I have't had terrible morning sickness, but I did feel nauseous every morning), my boobs weren't really sore and throughout the day I noticed my bloating, gas and constipating dissipated. Sounds great right? But it was kind of worrying that every symptom just turned off in one day. So Monday morning was the same story, and I realized I hadn't had to get up to pee in the middle of the night like normal. I started to freak out a bit, I didn't feel pregnant anymore. In my Monday night yoga class my fears deepened because going through a vinyasa flow from plank to upward dog normally kills my pregnant boobs, but last night I felt nothing.

So when I woke up this morning feeling not pregnant again (and not having to pee) I was terrified I had had a miscarriage. Luckily when I called my baby doctor clinic at 7:30 am, they could get me in today for an ultrasound to check out what was happening in my uterus.

WHAT A RELIEF! Baby is fine! Heart was beating strong as ever and all the growth is perfect according to my 11 week status. My husband and I were so relieved, and our ultrasound tech was amazingly comforting. Our doctor said everything looks great and it is normal as women approach their 2nd trimester for symptoms to fall off. I wasn't expecting them to all turn off at once, but since everything is great with baby, everything is great with me.

I really just wanted to share my good news story for any of your moms-to-be that are experiencing the same thing and worried sick like I was. I mean my story won't be true for everyone, but if you can't get in for an ultrasound as quick as I could, I can't imagine the worrying you are going through!

Good Luck to everyone with your babies-in-development!

Hi RachelCA29! I'm so glad to hear this, as this is the exact topic I came on here today to search. I'm just about 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby and all of a sudden starting yesterday, I am feeling SO much better. The nausea/seasick feeling, extreme exhaustion, lower abdomen aching - all nearly went away. I have my first OB appointment on Friday and hopefully they'll do an ultrasound (my gynecologist did one at their office at 6 weeks) because, of course, I'm worried about a missed miscarriage, but reading your post makes me feel more confident that this is normal. I also could be anywhere from 9-11 weeks pregnant since I have PCOS and am not really sure when I ovulated. Thanks!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing! I have been blessed with not many symptoms since I've been pregnant, and now as I hit 12 w tomorrow my boobies arnt sore at all like they were and I'm slowly gaining more energy. I was getting worried and even mentioned to dh last night even though we have had 2 good ultrasounds at 8 and 10 weeks!

  • Same here ...On sunday ..I was feeling just normal ..no aches...so much more energy...no nausea ...I was beginning to worry ...DH keeps telling me everything's fine and not to worry ...begin monday ..little bit of nausea came back ..but the strong smell effect went away ...yet there's no taste in my mouth and I basically don't feel like eating anything ...:(...but I had one day when I felt soooo good ...I hope many such days start coming over :D..
  • Thanks for sharing. I am 12w3d and have been feeling the same way this week. Going for my NT scan tomorrow so we will get to see baby again, and ease my worries.
  • This post was right on time. Thank you!

  • Going thorough this right now and this post really comforts me. Thanks for taking the time to share. I'm 11 weeks as well.
  • Thanks for posting! I am feeling the same thing! My symptoms have been very light to begin with and then they basically started to vanish at 9 weeks.I had a missed m/c at 5 weeks with my first pregnancy and this is my second. So I am scared of it happening again.
I heard that the placenta kicks in around 8-10 weeks and it takes over hormone production and that helps ease your symptoms somewhat??
Either way I am still scared, it's hard to feel "lucky" when you don't feel pregnant at all. I called my OB and she said I should be happy to be feeling better and that it's normal to feel symptoms go away at this time. I have to wait until 11/27 for my 12 week ultrasound. I am hoping/praying that everything is ok b/c I really want to tell my family at Thanksgiving...until then I will use these boards to help me feel better! :-)

How did things turn out? I'm going through the same thing now, and they won't do an ultrasound till 12 weeks, so that's 3 more weeks of torture! My symptoms are essentially gone out of the blue and I'm FREAKING out!
