Blended Families

a little surprise (the car and DH)

DH came home tonight and told me the new car we traded his truck in for is not his. It's mine! He said he knew if he told me we were looking for a car for me I would fight to death about not getting it. And he would have been right.

He also gave me this really heartfelt long speech about how I deserve it more than him anyway and do more for our family than anyone else ever could and a lot of other really super sweet things.

I was in tears I was so touched. Not necessarily by the car but by what he said. I told him that is the first time I have ever truly felt fully appreciated, not because of the car but because he verbalized it.

I am so absolutely shocked by everything he had been doing lately. For me, for us, for himself. I'm just in awe. He's like a whole new man. I have never felt so valued and listened to as I have lately, and I mean before tonight, as well.

After sharing our low points with you all, I have to share or high points, as well. Thanks for reading.

  • A 2013 Chevy Malibu.

    Neither of us has ever had a car from a dealership, let alone a new one. I am less shell-shocked over it now, so the knot in my stomach has gone away for the most part. But it was a HUGE commitment to make.

    I guess it is good that I experienced this before trying to buy a home because that will be a much bigger (YIKES!) commitment. X_X I am a penny-pincher, to say the least. I could sit on a penny for ten years and starve to death before spending it on a piece of bubble gum. So this was hard for me to do. As in I was starting to hyperventilate Saturday at the dealership.

    I have problems. 8-}
  • That's awesome! Every girl deserves a brand new car now and then ;) enjoy!!

  • So happy that you and your DH are doing so well. A loving, supportive and appreciative partner is the greatest gift of all, but the car is definitely a great cherry on top!
