Baby hates riding in the car at night

My 6 month old cries in the car after it gets dark. She is fine during the day, but once we hit nighttime she screams the whole. way. home. She was born in April, and because her bedtime is 7, we are normally home before dark. Because the days are getting shorter and its getting darker earlier, she is just now experiencing being in the car at night. It is a stressful ride home, that's for sure. I don't know what to do, besides stay home and not leave the house after dark. I can't say for sure that it's the darkness that bothers her, but that's the only thing I can think of. Any recommendations? Anyone else have this issue?

Could it just be a coincidence with what's going on at the time? Are you picking her up from somewhere when you weren't before?

no, nothing has changed besides I've noticed that she is more unhappy with night time driving than any other time of day.

Our son is the same way, once we hit town with all the lights he is for the most part fine. Is there any way you can put a portable DVD player safely where she can see it? That would maybe light up the vehicle and give her something to focus on.
We are rarely out after dark but the next time i am going to try the DVD player , hay its worth a shot in the dark

They shouldn't really be watching a DVD at this age

I find it dangerous to drive with the overhead light turned on at night, but I've not tried it yet to see if it helps her. Not sure which is worse, the light ON with no crying or light off and screaming baby.

well I know they aren't supposed to but for a short ride home I see no issue in it. Especially if it keeps her from crying. Odds are she wont watch it but the flickering light will keep her distracted/ entertained.
