10 week old twins and tummy time.

Hi everyone.  I have 10 week old fraternal twin boys.  They absolutely hate tummy time.  My one boy is doing really well though.  Has great head control and can keep his head up.  My other boy simply screams as soon as I put him on his belly.  He doesn't really lift his head either.  he does but not for long.  Also when we hold him on our shoulder he does lift his head but not nearly as good as his brother.  When I pull them both up from a lying position with their arms they do hold their heads in alignment with their bodies.  But the one with the weaker neck control, once his is pulled up, his head goes forward.  Neither one of them attempt mini pushups that I've been reading about.  Does this sound normal and it's still early?  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you.

It's still early, and every baby is different. My first son hated tummy time even more than DS2 and he would just "eat the mat" as we'd say. Just looked back at my baby book and it says he started to lift his head to look at us when on our chests at 11 weeks. It was later for being on a playmat, and we used the little tummy time pillow that came with it. Whereas with DS2, he has had a strong neck from birth and can lift quite high, but still hates it and cries. I think once they learn to roll then that's usually when they start to like it a bit more. Just keep trying a couple times a day.

  • Thanks.  I do it multiple times a day and they absolutely hate it lol.  What's weird is that at around 8 weeks old we would put him on his tummy to lotion him after his bath and he would lift his head and he has even rolled over from front to back.  Probably accidental but nonetheless he did it lol.
