How long did your boy/girl twins share a room?

Just thinking about the future and wondering how long you had your twins share a room?  Right now our house is set up with our room on the far left of the house and the kids room is across the hall from us which is very convenient.  The guest rooms are all the way on the other side of the house so it will be a bit of a pita to have one in a room over there.  Anyway, just curious at what age you split them up?

  • My b/g twins shared a room until they were 5 even though we had a second bedroom.  We moved into another home while we built our new home so we made the switch then.

  • Mine are almost 3 (and still in cribs!) with no plans of separating them for awhile. Kindergarten, maybe, unless they ask before then. They LOVE sharing a room.

  • We'll probably wait until they are around 7 or 8 to separate them. Right now they're sharing a room and our oldest son has his own room. When they are older, we will move our younger son in with him and let our daughter have her own room. I want to do it before she hits puberty, if possible, so that she has the privacy that she'll want/need when the time comes. I was in my first bra at 9 and probably could have used one before then so I'm planning to do it on the earlier side.

  • Mine are still sharing but the plan is to wait until one of them asks. Until then we plan on having one bedroom be a playroom and and the other be their actual bedroom. When they want to switch we will transition the playroom into the other bedroom.

  • Our b/g twins shared until about 2.5. They've always napped apart and at 2.5 DD decided she wanted to sleep by herself. So they split on their own. I always wanted to separate them before they went to big kid beds though.
  • We're team green but have discussed this with my husband. As soon as they're out of cribs we would probably separate them (maybe even if they're b/b or g/g just to get them used to having their own space!

  • Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I separated my boys at 3 1/2 months. They were waking each other, and I kept feeling like I needed to attend to the crying one at first peep. It was starting to drive me a little crazy. Everyone, including me, has slept better since they've been seperated. They are now great nappers and night sleepers.

  • I am waiting until they are both potty trained at a minimum.  It is just easier to have the changing table and diapers in the same place.

Also waiting until they can successfully sleep without a paci - wihch I am phasing out soon.  The girl will be sharing with big sis and right now she cries if she wakes up and can't find her paci.  Wouldn't want her to disturb big sis.
