Emotions

When will I become my normal self? I'm super sensitive and emotional. I know being tired doesn't help but I cry at everything and feel a bit anxious as well. I'm assuming hormones are a factor and wondering when others were feeling more there normal self. I had my son oct 6, just over two weeks ago.

  • I wouldn't be too tough on yourself until at least a month postpartum. However if your emotions are ranging from each spectrum of the extreme I would definitely consider talking to your doctor.

  • I've noticed I'm getting better but as a ftm I question everything I'm doing to the point that I get myself in a tizzy lol I'm my own worst enemy. Wow this is crazy! I try to sleep when baby sleeps but when the hell does anything get done? I'm trying to figure out EI which is another stress. Government of Canada is testing my patience lol
  • It took me 2-3 weeks to feel better. The first two weeks were very tough for me and I would cry all the time....try to take a walk, you won't believe how much that will help. And though it's hard try to take naps when you can. My biggest mistake was to try to clean, laundry, make lunch and dinner while taking care of little one and that was a bad idea it took a toll on me. I take things a lot easier now. It gets better hang in there :)
  • It took me about 3 weeks to feel normal again. Give yourself time. :)

  • I felt like myself again 2-3 weeks pp. You just went through something major, hormones are crazy, and now you have a little one to depend on you 24/7. It's rough at first. Try going out for a little bit or just having adult interaction. That helped me tremendously.
  • Give yourself a little more time for sure. If you feel out of control I would call your dr.
    I have noticed I was not a crier before and I tear up a lot more easily, but that might be the sleep deprivation!
  • It took me about 3 - 4 weeks... youre almost there!
  • For me, with both kids, the first 2 weeks was the hardest... I was still emotional after that with DD1, but this time I'm pretty good. I think it helps having done it before, as this time I'm much calmer overall.. But with my first it was another story. Hang in there!

  • I still have my days but I remember about 2 weeks pp feeling like I sort of "woke up" from this dark cloudy place. Hang in there and remember you went through a lot of physical changes and trauma and even more mental stuff!

  • Like most everyone has said, the first two weeks were the hardest for me. The third week wasn't great either. I still have bad days and bad moments though. I do think its normal, especially when you're sleep deprived. However, since you mentioned feeling anxious also it wouldn't hurt to give your doctor a call to let them know how you're feeling. Hang in there!

  • I still get overly emotional. Just wanting to cry when people talk about parenthood or something. I just feel softer. Lol. I'm 9 weeks pp

  • I am 6 weeks pp and I get major feelings of anxiety. Esp when I need to take LO to the doctor or out shopping on my own. I don't know how you ladies are grocery shopping.

     

  • Those first 2 or 3 weeks were really tough for me, especially once my husband went back to work and I was alone during the day, recovering from a c-section and still learning the ropes with my baby. By week 3, I felt a whole lot better! Give yourself time, I promise it gets better!
