Re: Does LO know his/her name?

  • Sonya is six and a half months old, and I'm pretty sure she doesn't know her name. Not sure if this is normal or not (hence me making the poll), but it's not something I'd want to call the pediatrician about.

  • I think you have time. Around this time it can be hit and miss sometimes.

Connor knows his name most times, he smiles every time I say it and looks directly at the person saying it. He also smiles every time he hears baby boy too. Then sometimes even when you call him a billion times he will refuse to look at you. lol

  • He always turns and looks when we say his name, but I'm unsure if that is because we are saying his name or just talking to him in general.

  • LO will be 7 months next week, and she started "responding" to her name maybe 2 weeks ago.
  • My DD is 6 and a half months and i do not think she know her name or nick name she just smiles because I am talking to her.
  • I answered no. I don't think he knows his name. There are times where we repeat it 3 or 4 times and he still doesn't react. But he just turned six months old last week. He'll figure it out eventually.

  • Yes, but Ginny is in the almost 7 months group too. We realized last night that she knows our "names" too. If I say Mama, she looks at me and if I say Dada, she looks at DH. Its kind of neat. :)

  • I voted yes. J turned 6 mo yesterday and does this too.

  • I'm not sure he ever will because everyone has a different nickname for him but he knows what mooch means and will lean is and open his mouth at the right time.
  • My LO#2 has known her name since 4 months old. It was very scary considering it took my LO#1 forever to know his. Having #1 around to continually say #2's name certainly helped to speed up the process.
  • I put ss- both girls respond to their name and each others name. It's causing confusion but I don't really know how to avoid it. :/

  • I said unsure. When I call his name he turns and smiles. But I'm sure he'd do the same thing if I said monkey in an excited tone, too.

    Edited to fix spelling
This exactly. I tend to think he's responding to my voice, not his name.
