High A1C - Boo

I'm 34 weeks and just had A1C results above 5.5.  I'm just a little bummed.  I guess I need to aim for mostly proteins and veggies for the next 5 weeks.  :(

    I am sorry, Mama! I have had 2-3 bad A1C's before. The last one I got was a month before I got pregnant.

    lol, I agree with AMK 1981, they typically shoot for under 6.5 when preggo and diabetic, if 5.5 is bad than I guess I am really in trouble!

    At my last appointment my endo was thrilled with my 6.8 and gave me the Green Light on getting pregnant.  So a 5.5 sounds like a gold medal to me!!!  My endo said she wants me between 6.0 and 7.0 throughout pregnancy.  Maybe it's different for a type 1?

    My A1Cs have all been under 5.5.  This last one was 5.7 which just means that I'm not as controlled as I want/need to be with my GD.  This last 6-8 weeks has been really challenging for maintaining my blood sugar and the A1C just confirms that fact. :(

    My med group has 5.5 as their ceiling for "good A1C" for GD moms.  I wasn't diabetic before pregnancy or between so that may play into what's considered a "good number" for me, maybe.

    I would expect that Type 1 would have a higher threshold than GD, based on what limited info I know about the challenges of Type 1.  :)
