At my last appointment my endo was thrilled with my 6.8 and gave me the Green Light on getting pregnant. So a 5.5 sounds like a gold medal to me!!! My endo said she wants me between 6.0 and 7.0 throughout pregnancy. Maybe it's different for a type 1?
Am I missing something?? 5.5 is a good A1C?... When you say "above 5.5", what was your actual number?
My A1Cs have all been under 5.5. This last one was 5.7 which just means that I'm not as controlled as I want/need to be with my GD. This last 6-8 weeks has been really challenging for maintaining my blood sugar and the A1C just confirms that fact.
lol, I agree with AMK 1981, they typically shoot for under 6.5 when preggo and diabetic, if 5.5 is bad than I guess I am really in trouble!
My med group has 5.5 as their ceiling for "good A1C" for GD moms. I wasn't diabetic before pregnancy or between so that may play into what's considered a "good number" for me, maybe.

I would expect that Type 1 would have a higher threshold than GD, based on what limited info I know about the challenges of Type 1.
