a & d ointment

I haven't posted in a bit. I'm usually a reader of the board unless I have something important to add. I'm hoping you can help me. We've had some diaper rash before so I thought I'd try a new product and I used a & d. Well a few hours later my sons booty was bright red and almost looked burned or rash like. I'm guessing it was from a & d but I'm not sure. He is teething so maybe he has more acidic poops? He just screamed and screamed when in touched it with wipes or when water touched it in the bath. Just odd though because a i used a lanolin nip cream while breast feeding and that didn't bother him ans that's main ingredient in a & d. Anyone else experience this? I'm calling dr . In a.m. if it's not better. We usually use desatin. I didn't put anything on him tonight because i thought it might make it worse. Any help or advice would be great. Please excuse spelling errors. I would try no wipes, just water to wash his bottom, and maybe something like triple paste or coconut oil. Teething has made it harder to keep E's bottom from getting red.

We use a&d sometimes with no issue. But I would definitely discontinue use of wipes. Warm water only. Purple desetin has always done well for us. Also aquaphor and some naked time.

Definitely try wiping with a warm washcloth rather than wipes and let the area dry before putting a diaper back on.

I like Calmoseptine (ask your pharmacist). It's super thick...a little goes a long way. Are there any little red dots? If so, it could be yeast. I bought an OTC cream to treat when DS2 had that.

Thanks. It almost looks blister like. My dh is convinced it's the a&d. I put Vaseline on it then I'll use warm water and call dr. When it opens. I don't even want to put desetin because I'm nervous that might hurt too. It's sad.

Not sure if A&D would cause it or not. However, whenever DD gets bad diaper rash, I rely on Triple Paste and cornstarch-based powder.

Another vote for using only wet paper towels - no wipes and a HUGE fan of Triple Paste. We use A&D as a preventative cream, but when the acidic teething starts, it's Triple Paste all the way. Good luck!

Have you tried Butt Paste? We just had a terrible diaper rash with Corinne. I just loaded the Butt Paste on her frequently. It took two solid days of me using tons of Butt Paste to get the rash to go away. Good luck I hate diaper rashes.

Well dr. Said likely reaction to a & d. She said he has sunburn type reaction. Said vasoline and no wipes along with naked time will hopefully heal it. Feeling like a bad mom :-(
