Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

1yr old did not pee the entire night ......

my ds is almost 13 months and ever since we switched from formula to whole milk i have noticed that he has not been peeing as much. Today he woke up with a dry diaper should i be worried?

He had 2 bottles of whole milk the day before, 1 bottle at 12 am and 1 bottle at 6 am and still nothing..... He does not seem to be sick or under any discomfort. Has any one had this type of experience?

Thank you

  • my son has had diapers where he's peed like once (or it seems like it was just once b/c it was so light) but then his next diaper will be massive.  i'd just keep an eye on it, and if continues throughout the day then i'd probably call.  although i've read too that sometimes they don't pee, b/c like adults, they'll hold it in or something.

My LO sometimes doesn't pee all night...that's a good sign, it means potty training will be possible. I'd just make sure the morning diaper is soaking; if it isn't, then I would start looking at fluid intake.
Thanks guys for your response. I plan to increase fluid intake and observe for the next few days.

  • does he drink water during the day?  I always have a sippy filled with water available to him at all times.

when  I am home with him I have his straw cup available to him at all times and he takes a drink at different times but not sure if his baby sitter is giving him at certain times or letting him have access to the cup whenever he wants. I have spoken to her and i'll observe for improvements. Thank you

  • My baby pees so so much he fills his diaper and wets the bed. But he's 20 months old now. When he was 13 months he didn't pee very much!
  • My LO doesn't pee much at night.  We change her right before bedtime and she is quite often dry when she first gets up...but at the next changing, her diaper will be soaked.  I think it's alight as long as they are having plenty of wet diapers over a 24 hour period.

  • my pediatrician told me as long as there were wet diapers (didn't all have to be at night - could have peed before you changed the diaper or right after you put the new one)
