I've actually never had OG's version, but if it's anything like this homemade version then, I'll have to try it! I really liked it (probably because there is 1/2 & 1/2 in it, yikes)
I can't decide what to make on what day, so I just come up with what we're having for the week and grocery shop based on what meat we have in the house. Here's what I can make this week:
chicken thighs with an asian marinade and ramen noodles
pot roast (crock pot) with potatoes and vegetables
italian sausage and broccoli with pasta
boneless pork chops and vegetables with rice pilaf.
We'll see. Nancy has a cold so she's a miserable little person who won't eat anything other than macaroni and cheese.
We eat the Italian Parmesan chicken sausages by cooking them on the grill (if weather is ok) along with green/red peppers & onions on a toasted hot dog bun. SO good and no need for sauce!
I did not make this in the crock pot. Just a rectangular baking dish. I used six medium flour tortillas and made two layers. I baked it at 350 for 45 min uncovered.
Mon: Grilled chicken sausage and quinoa Tue: Tomato and sausage risotto (leftover sausage) Wed: Pasta with turkey meatballs Thursday: Crock pot brisket with bourbon applesauce Friday: Homemade pizza
I really like this weekly post because it's so helping me plan my meals and make my weekday evenings less stressful since I know what I'm going to cook! Also, I am requesting both @pokedot's and @icedcoffeeluv's crock pot chicken noodle soup. I've been wanting to do this and you both are inspiring me this week! And the muffin tin chicken pot pie that @IForgotMyLogin sounds delicious!
Here's mine so far:
Monday: leftovers - we have BBQ ribs, white chicken chili, and lemon artichoke chicken to get through.
Tuesday: Shredded Chicken Tacos
Wednesday: Maybe the chicken noodle soup in the crockpot from the ladies above (if they are willing to share their recipes!)
Thursday: Something with andouille sausage... maybe a pasta dish?
Friday: Pizza at DC - it's Trunk or Treat night and they are bringing in pizza for us.
Saturday and Sunday my inlaws are in town. My MIL will probably cook something for us, which is fine by me since that gives me the night off!
As of right now I don't have a recipe. I was just planning on throwing some chicken breast, fresh green beans, garlic, carrots and celery in the crockpot with some chicken broth (maybe a little white wine). Then making some egg noodles on the stove to go with it.
Im on a big clean out kick right now. I vowed not to grocery shop (except for dairy and produce) for 1 month. We have a ridiculous amount of food in both of our freezers and the pantry that needs to be used, and I want to become more mcgyver-like with using what I have to make meals.
this week goes
M: 3 bean crock pot chili and corn bread T: ravioli and garlic bread W: i work nights so dh and the kids will eat leftovers T: brinner F: Halloween Party. S: some sort of meat I have frozen, side dish I have in the pantry and veg. S: dinner at friends
@mands629 & @icedcoffeeluv I use a McCormick seasoning packet for mine ;P Not very creative but delicious! I just follow the instructions (raw chicken, carrots, onion, celery, water and seasoning) and dump it in. Also Iced you can put egg noodles in the last 10ish minutes or so right in the crockpot so you don't have to dirty another pan. I found the packet at my local grocers but I'm sure one near you would have it!
I've made it several times and it's really good. It also freezes well. I buy a big pack of stew meat and freeze one with everything mixed together. Works great
