Online baby registry vs in- store .... Any different?

Hi ... I was planning on starting my baby registry and having never done registries of any kind before .. I'm in a fix. Did you guys get yours done online or in - store ? Is it any different ? And to add, I do want to feel and touch things esp. the material for all fabrics , before I buy.

Re: Online baby registry vs in- store .... Any different?

  • I haven't done amy baby registry yet, but when I did my wedding registry I did both. I prefer the in-store ones, because you can look at the items, hold them, test them out, etc... It's more fun.

I imagine baby items would be much easier to pick if out if you chose the in-store option.

  • I registered in store and then went online to make modifications/add more items. Best of both.

  • Both Target and BRU will give you a bag of samples, coupons, etc if you start your registry in stores. Free photo books, 20% off maternity clothes, wipes samples, food...it's worth the trip to the store. You can always add items online afterwards too. Some items you may want won't be available online and vice versa. And ditto PP about seeing things in person.

  • I decided to make my registry at Babies R Us so that I could start the registry at the store and then make modifications online.  I also like that it's international so that my family in friends in both Canada and the USA were able to access it.  I also wanted it to be easily accessible by the people making purchases off of it.  Since not all people are tech-savy (able to use the internet well) they might prefer to make purchases in store.

  • In store gets you the goodie bags. Then you can update and add online.

  • With BRU you can start online and still get the goodie bag when you do make it to the store. I started my registry online because I wasn't sure when I'd hit the store and several of the items I knew I'd want are only available online, but mostly because I wanted to make sure I had started my registry before 11/15 so I could take advantage of the $200 gift card program that gives a little kickback after the baby is born based on what was purchased from your registry (we're putting everything on there even if we intend to buy it ourselves). I do plan on going in for the goodies and a more up close view of something I want to try out before buying.
  • I like the concept of online gift registry. It is easy t create and manage. We can easily access it from anywhere. The guests live in remote location can easily buy the gift. I think it saves money as well as time. In many online gift registries I like ourwishingwell.com. This registry to access and manage and provide lots of tools like budget planner, website generator and other which help us to get easy and effective services.
  • Between online gift registry and gift stores I will definitely choose online gift registries. As they are easy to create, manage and access. Our  guest can also easily purchase the things for us according to our choice. We can easily modify or delete the items whenever needed and it also saves money and time.
