Bounced the idea off of another topic, but does anyone know of any Russian names that aren't too overwhleming ? Being Russian I've heard some good and bad & I'm pretty sure I have a boys name picked out (not Russian), but no girls names, but.still willing to hear both .
Some I like are:
Boy- Yuri, Nikolai
Girl- Milena, Natalya
Re: Russian Names
I don't know too many Russian names, but what about Anastasia NN Ani

I like Ivan or Mikhail, vs names like Boris and Vladmir, which can be overwelming. Yuri is cute too.
Like Mikhail too !

Anastasia or Irina for a girl
I love Milena! Similarly, Elena is pretty.
Have you considered Sonya? I love the character in Crime and Punishment. And since it's such an international name, it doesn't feel "overwhelmingly Russian."
I also love Valentina, which has that same international usage going on. So, so pretty.
Girl names with more or less international usage/easy pronunciation:
Marina, Margarita, Sofia, Katerina, Olga, Irina, Alina, Lilia, Tatiana
Boys:
Dmitri, Andrei, Pyotr, Grigory, Vadim, Roman... drawing a blank
Nikolai is great; Yuri, while I like it in Russian, is a popular Japanese girl name - which would put me off. HTH!
