Pets acting strange?

Hey ladies! Are any of your pets acting strange or differently? My cat has been acting like a total stalker the last couple of weeks and continues to get more and more strange. I wake up in the middle of the night and he is just sitting there staring at me. He also follows me everywhere, constantly wants to be on me, and is being very vocal. He was always a lover, but he is being extra needy and obsessive ha. I was just curious if anyone else is experiencing this. I have read that animals can sense your baby.

Re: Pets acting strange?

  • Before Labor started with DS, my dog would not leave my side and cried everytime I left the house for 3 days.  The day my water broke, she would not leave me,( I labored at home as long as I could).  Its pretty amazing

  • I have been so curious about this, I have three dogs and I swear they don't even realize I am pregnant! I am so curious to see how they act over the next few weeks. I have heard that they get that way though.. maybe mine are just "special" :)

  • One of ours has been very protective and kind of a basket case. When I was in labor with DS1 she didn't leave my side until we left for the hospital. My other dog has recently gotten very destructive, she chewed on our area rug yesterday, very out of character for her. Strange how they deal so differently.

  • Yes! Our cat stares at me a lot, and my dog won't leave my side.

  • Mine is driving me nuts. But I don't think her anxiety has anything to do with me. Whenever my DH leaves or is sleeping in (he works nights) she will not stop whining. It's making me crazy!

  • The one little dog we have actually just started acting weird these last few days. He follows me everywhere and just sits there and stares up at me. Also our German shepherd has been trying to jump up at me every time I see her and won't leave my side either. Hmmmm
  • My labrador Zoe has become extra lovey! She wont leave my side and now sleeps by my bedroom door as opposed to my stepson's door! We brought out the infant car seat the other day to leave by our door and she found a new thing to sleep by!
  • My cat has been acting just like op's. He never has been so attached to me before. This all started a couple of weeks ago, but now he constantly has to be next to me.

  • My dogs have no clue. They are just as annoying as ever. The only thing that has changed is that my patience with them is close to zero.

  • I don't think my dog has noticed I'm pregnant. So when we come home with an infant in a few weeks, I'm sure she'll think, "What the hell? Thanks for the warning, you assholes!"
  • My cat doesn't care.  She has no idea about what's about to happen to her comfy little kitty world.

  • My dog sleeps on my stomach... maybe she's communicating with her puppy brother?

  • Our dog is being a stressed out, whiny, weirdo. He knows that something is up.

  • One of my cats was super weird when I was pregnant with DD.   On the day that I started having contractions, she came over to the chair that I was sitting in, and just sat in between my feet looking up at me.  Like she knew something was up.   She was a sweet girl, and has since passed.  I miss her!

  • I wonder how the dogs will act around a new baby... Especially our German shepherd which I heard are very good with children. Anyone have one?
  • One of my cats has totally been different since I've been pregnant. He wants to sit on my lap at every opportunity. He was not like this before. On the one hand I think it's sweet, on the other hand it drives me crazy!
  • I literally just posted pics on FB of my antisocial cat who, when I got home from work today, came and laid cross my chest so I had no choice but to cradle him like a baby! I think he's trying to break me in! :)

  • Our two dogs have been extra clingy lately. They follow me everywhere to the point that they almost step on my heels while walking.
Two of our three cats don't even notice. The one that does is my 18lb Russian Blue. He just sits and stares at me while I sleep, eat....or do anything. He's a total creep.
@ashleyross Does this mean I'm having a cat?! Is it going to be a kitten or a full grown cat?! Should I just head to L&D now?!

Obviously. It should be a kitten but you never know. But I don't think you need to rush to L&D yet, the other two will alert your iguana when it's time.
Phew! I was really worried since I forgot what to pack in my hospital bag  :P

My iguana won't wear any of the outfits I have laid out for him. More so, he won't even consider accessorizing! He used to love a bedazzled hat or a murse to really complete his look, but he side-eyes any fashion suggestions I give him! I am so worried about what it all means. Guess I'll find out soon!
You say "he." Are you SURE he identifies with the male population? Maybe a boa and bedazzled tutu?
  • My BFs cats have been super clingy and weird the last couple of months.  One of them was always an AW, but now he HAS to sit on me and has become quite vocal.  The other one used to be very anti-social and now he's constantly wanting to be coddled and babied

My dog jumped in the bathtub with me.  I heard that's a sign of impending labor.

Ha ha! I'm guessing this is a jab at my post from last week. I never said I thought I was going into labor. I just wondered (like this poster) if my dog's strange new behavior and obsession with me could be a sign baby was coming sooner than later.
  • My dog has been very careful around my tummy and has been super needy the last week or so.
  • My little guy has started being a complete PITA. He is usually a mamas boy, but he has taken it to a new level recently. He is shaking and following me everywhere . The other night I couldn't even take a shower in peace because he wouldn't leave the bathroom. It really worried me , he gets so anxious and it makes me anxious. I don't mind him being extra lovey, but the shaking scares me. He gets like that when we are driving somewhere, panting and shaking. When he gets used to the drive he eventually chills and lays down.

  • I think there is something to animals knowing. Our dog started laying on my belly two weeks before I even found out we were expecting. She has been super clingy throughout my whole pregnacy rarely letting me out of her sight. Recently we were dog sitting for our neighbors and she actually growled when one if the dogs got to close to my stomach, something she has never done before.
  • I firmly believe cats are just naturally weird. Pregnant or not.
